Military Collegiate School Khulna (MCSK) has launched its first-ever Book Reading Week 2026, organized by the Literature Club with the inspiring motto: “Reading Today, Leading Tomorrow.”
In an era where many young people spend a significant portion of their leisure time browsing social media and consuming unproductive online content, the habit of reading books is gradually declining. Recognizing the vital role of reading in developing intellect, wisdom, critical thinking, creativity, and leadership qualities, MCSK has undertaken this special initiative to encourage cadets to embrace books as lifelong companions.
The program commenced with the unveiling of the Book Reading Week motto by the Principal. Addressing the cadets, the Principal emphasized that the future leaders of Bangladesh must cultivate wisdom, analytical thinking, and creativity through regular reading. He highlighted that while social media often encourages distraction and superficial engagement, books foster concentration, understanding, imagination, and personality development.
The Principal further encouraged cadets to develop a daily reading habit, build personal libraries, and make books an inseparable part of their lives. He reminded them that readers do not merely gain knowledge; they gradually gain depth, vision, and leadership qualities.
As part of the inauguration ceremony, the Principal handed over a handsome collection of newly purchased books to the libraries of both the Boys’ and Girls’ Wings for the benefit of the cadets.

Military Collegiate School Khulna (MCSK) successfully conducted the Inter House English Extempore Speech Competition for the cadets of the Girls' Wing today.
This year's competition introduced a significant and innovative change in its format. Previously, only pre-selected cadets from each house participated, while others attended as spectators. However, in line with MCSK's vision of developing confident, articulate, and smart future leaders, all cadets were instructed to prepare themselves for the competition. The participants were then selected through a lottery conducted on the spot.
This new approach reflects MCSK's belief that every cadet should possess the confidence and capability to speak effectively before an audience on any given topic. By encouraging all cadets to prepare and remain ready to participate, such intellectual competitions help develop communication skills, critical thinking, spontaneity, and overall smartness among the cadets.
After a highly competitive contest, Captain Sitara Begum House emerged as the Champion, while Begum Rokeya House secured the position of Runner-up.
