Entitled as the Best Fish Hatchery in South Asia Region by FAO. Rupali Fish Hatchery is a renowned fish hatchery situated in Jashore, Bangladesh. Established in 1980 by Hafez Sheikh Mesbah Uddin, son of the late AlHajj Sheikh Mohsin Ali, a pioneer in the fish culture industry in the Khulna district of Bangladesh. The hatchery is well-known for producing high-quality fish spawn, collected from the
Padma, Halda, and Jamuna rivers. The hatchery rears the fish in their nursery and grow-out ponds and develops them for their brood stock as parent fish. Rupali Fish Hatchery has received two National Gold Medals for producing the highest quality fish spawn in 1996 and 2001, presented by the Prime Minister of Bangladesh. The hatchery was also awarded the Best Hatchery in South Asia by the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) in 2001 in Thailand, where the Princess of Thailand presented the certificate and a gold medal to Hafez Sheikh Mesbah Uddin. The accolades earned by Rupali Fish Hatchery are a testament to their unwavering commitment to producing top-quality fish spawn and their dedication to excellence in the fish farming industry.
