CUSS YouthMappers successfully organized the โ€œMap the future with usโ€ to warmly welcome the new generation of mappers into our vibrant mapping community โœจ

The program was held with great enthusiasm and participation, bringing together passionate young minds eager to contribute to humanitarian mapping and OpenStreetMap. The event took place at the Department of Oceanography, University of Chittagong.

The event was hosted by Sadia Osman, Treasurer of CUSS YouthMappers, and began with an introductory session on CUSS YouthMappers and its remarkable past activities, presented by Nafisa Nurzahan Nitu, Assistant Communication & Social Media Secretary of CUSS YouthMappers.

Following the introduction, an engaging Mapathon session was conducted where Ridwan Ahmed Siddique, Communication & Social Media Secretary, provided a brief tutorial on OpenStreetMap (OSM). Participants then actively contributed to mapping activities and explored the fundamentals of collaborative humanitarian mapping.

Later, Md Al Shahriar Alif, IT & Creative Development Secretary, delivered an informative presentation highlighting the goals, vision, and opportunities within YouthMappers.

The program also featured an interactive group task session where participants discussed innovative ideas and shared their solutions creatively. A fun and exciting quiz segment was organized by Sourav Shil Shuvo, Senior Vice President of CUSS YouthMappers, which added energy and enthusiasm to the event.

The concluding session included prize giving and inspiring remarks from Abdul Muhaimen Jamil Washi, President of CUSS YouthMappers. We were also delighted by the presence of Pratik Dutta, President of Chittagong University Scientific Society (CUSS), and Rubayea Yeasmin, General Secretary of CUSS, whose participation made the program even more memorable. Our student advisors, Ashfak Mahmud and Dibash Deb, also joined the event online and shared insightful advice and encouragement with the future mappers.

This orientation program reflected the spirit of teamwork, learning, leadership, and humanitarian contribution that defines CUSS YouthMappers. We look forward to the incredible journey ahead with our future mappers ๐ŸŒโœจ

Map The Trail at University of Chittagong Campus ๐Ÿ—บ๏ธ

โœจ The CUSS YouthMappers team successfully completed the field-based image collection campaign in one of the campus EcoTrail to map previously unmapped paths using Mapillary across the University of Chittagong campus.

๐Ÿ”ฐThe team was divided into three groups, each assigned to different areas of the campus. Using the Mapillary app, members captured street-level images while walking along previously unmapped trails and routes, for contributing new data to OpenStreetMap later. These images will help to identify objects such as electric poles, street signs, bridges, small water bodies, waste bins and other important features.

๐Ÿ“ฃ We will soon arrange a mapathon to map out unmapped areas of the campus with newly collected Mapillary data in openstreetmap using RapiD AI.

๐Ÿ”นCUSS Youthmappers chapter is grateful to the enthusiastic members for their active participation.
