IELTS Speaking এ আপনারা অনেকেই প্রতিটি প্রশ্নের উত্তরের শুরুতেই “Yes” বা “No” বলে থাকেন। কিন্তু আপনি চাইলে এর বদলে কিছু natural idiomatic expressions ব্যবহার করতে পারেন, যা আপনার speaking কে অনেক বেশি fluent এবং impressive করে তোলে। Here are some idiomatic expressions that you can use in your IELTS speaking instead of just repeating yes or no in every question.

1️⃣Positive (Yes এর বদলে 10টি idiomatic expressions)

1. Absolutely
Example: Absolutely, I really enjoy listening to music in my free time.

2. For sure
Example: For sure, I love travelling with my friends.

3. No doubt about it
Example: No doubt about it, learning English is very important nowadays.

4. By all means
Example: By all means, I prefer studying at night.

5. Without a doubt
Example: Without a doubt, I enjoy spending time with my family.

6. You bet
Example: You bet, I would love to visit new countries.

7. Of course
Example: Of course, I like watching movies on weekends.

8. That’s for sure
Example: That’s for sure, I always try to eat healthy food.

9. I couldn’t agree more
Example: I couldn’t agree more, exercise is essential for a healthy life.

10. Definitely
Example: Definitely, I prefer online learning these days.

2️⃣ Negative (No এর বদলে 10টি idiomatic expressions)

1. Not really
Example: Not really, I don’t enjoy watching horror movies.

2. I don’t think so
Example: I don’t think so, I prefer studying alone.

3. Not at all
Example: Not at all, I’m not interested in playing video games.

4. No way
Example: No way, I would never try that kind of food.

5. I’m afraid not
Example: I’m afraid not, I don’t like waking up early.

6. Not in the slightest
Example: Not in the slightest, I’m not interested in crowded places.

7. I doubt it
Example: I doubt it, I don’t think it will be useful for me.

8. Not my thing
Example: Not my thing, I don’t enjoy outdoor sports.

9. Hardly ever
Example: Hardly ever, I watch TV these days.

10. I’d rather not
Example: I’d rather not, I don’t like going to busy markets.

3️⃣ Partial / Neutral (যখন পুরোপুরি Yes বা No না — 10টি expressions)

1. It depends
Example: It depends, sometimes I like going out, sometimes I prefer staying home.

2. To some extent
Example: To some extent, I enjoy cooking.

3. In a way
Example: In a way, I like studying in groups.

4. More or less
Example: More or less, I enjoy reading books.

5. Up to a point
Example: Up to a point, I agree with this idea.

6. On and off
Example: On and off, I go to the gym.

7. From time to time
Example: From time to time, I watch movies.

8. I’m not entirely sure
Example: I’m not entirely sure, because I haven’t tried it before.

9. It varies
Example: It varies, depending on my mood.

10. Kind of / Sort of
Example: Kind of, I like spicy food but not too much.

আপনি চেষ্টা করবেন শুধু “Yes” বা “No” বলে answer শেষ না করে, এই ধরনের idiomatic expressions দিয়ে শুরু করতে। তারপর ১–২ লাইন explanation যোগ করুন। এতে আপনার speaking অনেক বেশি natural, fluent এবং impressive শোনাবে।

IELTS Speaking এর জন্য Positive & Negative Phrases!

IELTS Speaking এ যখন প্রশ্নের উত্তর দিতে হয়, তখন শুধু vocabulary জানলেই চলে না। কথার ধারা ও ভাব প্রকাশ করতে ভালো phrases জানা থাকা খুব জরুরি।যদি প্রশ্নের উত্তর পজিটিভ হয়, আমরা Positive Phrases ব্যবহার করি।এগুলো আমাদের ভাবকে স্পষ্ট এবং convincing করে তোলে।অন্যদিকে, যদি উত্তর নেগেটিভ বা অসম্মতি জানানো হয়, তখন Negative Phrases ব্যবহার করা হয়। এগুলো আমাদের অসুবিধা তুলে ধরতে সাহায্য করে, এবং উত্তরকে balanced ও realistic করে তোলে।
নিচে এইরকম কিছু Positive - Negetive pharases দেওয়া হলো।

✅ Positive / Agree / “Yes” Phrases (Showing Advantages or Positive Aspects)

1., that’s something I value highly. → একেবারেই, এটা আমি খুবই গুরুত্ব দেই।
2.Definitely, I see it as a great advantage. → নিশ্চিত, আমি এটা একটা বড় সুবিধা হিসেবে দেখি।
3.Without a doubt, it has many benefits. → কোনো সন্দেহ নেই, এতে অনেক সুবিধা আছে।
4.I couldn’t agree more with that perspective. → আমি এই দৃষ্টিভঙ্গির সাথে সম্পূর্ণ একমত।
5.Yes, I’d say that’s a strong point. → হ্যাঁ, আমি বলব এটা একটা শক্তিশালী দিক।
6.I completely support that view. → আমি পুরোপুরি এই মতকে সমর্থন করি।
7.Certainly, it adds value in many ways. → নিশ্চয়ই, এটা অনেকভাবে মান যোগ করে।
8.I find that really positive because… → আমি এটা সত্যিই ইতিবাচক মনে করি কারণ…
9.Indeed, it’s one of the main reasons I appreciate it. → সত্যিই, এটা প্রধান কারণে আমি এটা পছন্দ করি।
10.Yes, it clearly has a lot going for it. → হ্যাঁ, এতে স্পষ্টভাবে অনেক ভালো দিক আছে।

❌ Negative / Disagree / “No” Phrases (Showing Drawbacks or Negative Aspects)

1.Not really, I think it has some downsides. → সত্যি বলতে, আমি মনে করি এতে কিছু অসুবিধা আছে।
2.I’m afraid I see it differently. → দুঃখিত, আমি এটা ভিন্নভাবে দেখি।
3.Actually, I wouldn’t say it’s entirely positive. → আসলে, আমি বলব না এটা পুরোপুরি ইতিবাচক।
4.On the contrary, it may cause some issues. → বিপরীতভাবে, এটা কিছু সমস্যা সৃষ্টি করতে পারে।
5.I’m not sure that’s entirely true. → আমি নিশ্চিত নই এটা পুরোপুরি সত্য।
6.Unfortunately, it comes with a few drawbacks. → দুঃখজনকভাবে, এর কিছু অসুবিধা আছে।
7.I see some negative aspects to that. → আমি এতে কিছু নেতিবাচক দিক দেখি।
8.To be honest, it can be a bit problematic. → সত্যি বলতে, এটা কিছুটা সমস্যা হতে পারে।
9.I wouldn’t go that far, it has its limitations. → আমি এতটা বলব না, এতে কিছু সীমাবদ্ধতা আছে।
10.No, I think it’s not all that advantageous. → না, আমি মনে করি এটা সবদিক থেকে সুবিধাজনক নয়।
