Today is 17 Ramadan, the historic day of Badr.
On this day in the second Hijri (624 AD), the first major battle of Islam, ‘Badr’, took place at a place called ‘Badr’, 80 miles south of Medina. This battle between the Muslims of Medina and the polytheists of Mecca was a unique chapter in the distinction between truth and falsehood.
Despite being outnumbered and outgunned, the victory of the Muslims in this battle, with the help of Almighty Allah, solidified the foundation of the Islamic state in Medina and opened a glorious new horizon in the history of Islam.
– “And indeed, Allah helped you at Badr, while you were weak; so fear Allah that you may be grateful.” (Aal ‘Imran: 123)
আজ ১৭ রমজান, ঐতিহাসিক বদর দিবস।
দ্বিতীয় হিজরির এই দিনে (৬২৪ খ্রিস্টাব্দ) মদিনা থেকে ৮০ মাইল দক্ষিণে ‘বদর’ নামক স্থানে ইসলামের প্রথম বড় যু/দ্ধ ‘বদর’ সংঘটিত হয়েছিল। মদিনার মুসলমানদের সঙ্গে মক্কার মুশরিকদের এই লড়াই ছিল সত্য ও মিথ্যার পার্থক্যের এক অনন্য অধ্যায়।
সংখ্যায় ও শক্তিতে পিছিয়ে থাকা সত্ত্বেও মহান আল্লাহর সাহায্যে এই যু/দ্ধে মুসলমানদের বিজয় মদিনায় ইসলামি রাষ্ট্রের ভিতকে সুদৃঢ় করে এবং ইসলামের ইতিহাসে এক গৌরবোজ্জ্বল নতুন দিগন্তের সূচনা করে।
– “আর নিশ্চয়ই আল্লাহ তোমাদেরকে বদরে সাহায্য করেছিলেন এবং তোমরা দুর্বল ছিলে; অতএব তোমরা আল্লাহকে ভয় কর, যেন তোমরা কৃতজ্ঞ হও।” (আল ইমরান : ১২৩)
