Gender definition: যে Noun বা pronoun ধারা স্ত্রী, পুরুষ, স্ত্রী -পুরুষ উভয়ই,স্ত্রী-পুরুষ কোনোটিই নয়, এমন অচেতন পদার্থ ইত্যাদি বোঝায় তাকে Gender বলে।
Gender চার প্রকার যথা:
(i)Masculine Gender(পুরুষবাচক লিঙ্গ):যে Noun বা Pronoun দারা পুরুষ জাতি বোঝায়, তাকে Masculine Gender বলে।যেমন: Father,brother, boy ইত্যাদি।
(ii)Feminine Gender(স্ত্রীবাচক লিঙ্গ): যে Noun বা pronoun ধারা স্ত্রী জাতি বোঝায় ,তাকে Feminine Gender বলে।যেমন : Mother,Sister ইত্যাদি।
(iii) Common Gender(উভয়লিঙ্গ ):যে Noun বা Pronoun ধারা স্ত্রী ,পুরুষ উভয়কেই বোঝায় তাকে Common Gender বলে ।যেমন: child,friend, person ইত্যাদি।
(iv)Neuter Gender (ক্লীবলিঙ্গ ):যে Noun বা pronoun দারা স্ত্রী-পুরুষ কোনোটিকেই না বুঝিয়ে কোনো অচেতন পদার্থকে বোঝায় তাকে Neuter Gender বলে ।যেমন:Chair,table,bench ইত্যাদি।

Article: কোন ব্যক্তি, বস্তুু বা প্রাণীকে নির্দিষ্ট করে বুঝানোর জন্য যা ব্যবহার করা হয়, তা-ই Article. যেমনঃ a,an,the. Article দুই প্রকার।

যথাঃ 1. Indefinite Article. 2. Definite Article.

Indefinite Article: কোন ব্যক্তি, বস্তুু বা প্রাণীকে অনির্দিষ্ট করে বুঝানোর জন্য যা ব্যবহার করা হয়,
তা-ই Indefinite Article. যথাঃ a.an

Definite Article: কোন ব্যক্তি, বস্তুু বা প্রাণীকে নির্দিষ্ট করে বুঝানোর জন্য যা ব্যবহার করা হয়, তা-ই Definite Article. যথাঃ The. আমাদের সাথে থাকার জন্য ধন্যবাদ।

(13)কতুগুলা Noun আসে,যাদের অর্থ singular এ এক কিন্তু plural এ অর্থ।যেমন:
Good - goods
Corn - corns
Advice - advices
Iron - irons.

(14)Apostrophe এবং s যোগ করে letter এর plural এ একই রূপ থাকে।যেমন:
Sheep - sheep
Deer - deer
Cannon - cannon

(15)নিন্মলিখিত Noun গুলা সর্বদাই singular e ববহৃত হয়।যেমন:
Sheep - sheep
Deer - deer
Cannon - cannon
Taka - taka

(16)নিন্মলিখিত noun গুলা সর্বদাই singular এ ববহৃত হয়।যেমন:
Scenery - Scenery
Hair - hair

কিন্তু কোনো কোনো compound noun এর উভয় অংশই plural করতে হয়।যেমন:

Man-servent - men-servent
Woman-servent - women-servent
Lord - justice - lords - justices

(9)Noun এর শেষের অংশে man থাকলে এবং এর অর্থ মানুষ হলে man এর পরিবর্তে men বসিয়ে plural করতে হয়।যেমন:

Gentleman - Gentlemen
Fisherman - Fishermen
Washerman - washermen

কিন্তু man এর অর্থ মানুষ না বুঝিয়ে যদি তা শব্দের একটি অংশ হিসাবে ব্যবহার হয়, তবে শুধুমাত্র s যোগ করে plural করতে হয়।যেমন:

German - germans
Longman - longmans

(10)Noun এর শেষে ful থাকলে s যোগ করে plural করতে হয়।যেমন:

Handful - handfuls
Mouthful - mouthfuls
Spoonful - spoonfuls

(11)নিন্মলিখিত compound noun গুলির শেষে s যোগ করে plural করতে হয়।যেমন:

Book shelf - book shelfs
Book case - book cases
Major general - Major generals
Poet laurete - poet lauretes.

Brother - brothers/brethren

Number

Number অর্থ বচন বা সংখ্যা। যার দ্বারা কোন ব্যক্তি বা বস্তুুর সংখ্যা বুঝায় তাকে number বলে।
number দুই প্রকার যথাঃ 1. Singular number. 2. Plural number.

1. Singular number( এক বচন) যা দ্বারা একটি মাএ ব্যক্তি বা বস্তুু বুঝায়, তাকে singular number বলে।
2. Plural number( বহু বচন) যা দ্বারা একের অধিক ব্যক্তি বা বস্তু বুঝায়, তাকে plural number বলে।

singular number কে plural number করার নিয়মাবলী.

1. সাধারণত singular number এর শেষে s যোগ করে plural করা হয়:

Singular-plural
Pen- pens
Book- books
Pencil- pencils

2. কোন singular number এর শেষে s,ss,sh,ch,(ch- এর উচ্চারণ 'চ') x এবং z থাকলে es যোগ করে plural করা হয়:

Singular-plural

Gas-gases
Ass-asses
Brush-brushes
Watch- watches
Box- boxes
Fez-fezes

3.singular noun এর শেষে অক্ষরটি y হলে এবং y এর আগে consonants থাকলে y বাদ দিয়ে i তার পর es যোগ করে plural করা হয়।

Body- bodies
Lady-ladies
Baby- babies

4. কিন্তু y এর পূর্বে vowels থাকলে শুধু মাএ s যোগ করে plural করা হয়।

Singular- plural
Day- days
Boy-boys
Key- keys

5. Singular number এর শেষে f বা fe থাকলে f বা fe বাদ দিয়ে v তার পর es যোগ করে plural করা হয়।

Singular- plural
Half- halves
Life-lives
Wife- wives

6.Singular number এর শেষে o থাকলে o এর আগে consonant থাকলে es যোগ করে plural করা হয়।

Singular- plural
Mango- mangoes
Hero- heroes
Potato- potatoes

7. কিন্তু o এর আগে vowel থাকলে শুধু s যোগ করে plural করা হয়।

Singular- plural
Bamboo- bamboos
Radio- radios
Folio-folios

8.কখনও কখনও noun এর মধ্যস্হিত vowel পরিবর্তন করে plural করা হয়।

Singular- plural
Man- men
Woman- women
Foot- feet
Tooth- teeth
Louse- lice
Mouse- mice

2. Pronoun: যে word কোন noun এর পরিবর্তে বসে noun এর কাজ করে, তাকে pronoun বলে। যেমনঃ I, my, me, we,our, us, you, your, yourself, he, his, him, she, her,ইত্যাদি।

3. Adjective: যে word কোন noun বা pronoun এর দোষ, গুণ, অবস্হা, সংখ্যা, পরিমান ইত্যাদি বুঝায়, তাকে adjective বলে। যেমনঃ good, bad, fine, soft, beautiful, hard, small, large, five, ten, may, much, ইত্যাদি

4. Verb: যে word কোন কাজ করা, হওয়া, থাকা, বা আছে বুঝায়, তাকে verb বলে। যেমনঃ play,. do, sleep, want, see, dance, write, ইত্যাদি

5. Adverb. যে word কোন adjective, verb বা adverb, এর অবস্হা বুঝায়, তাকে adverb বলে। যেমনঃ softly, poorly, timely, late, well, very, not, quickly, swiftly, clearly, soon, gladly, sadly, nicely, widely ইত্যাদি।

6. Preposition: যে word কোন noun বা pronoun এর সাথে sentence এর অন্যান্য words এর সম্পর্ক বুঝায়, তাকে preposition বলে। যেমনঃ on, to, in, by, with, without, between, at, ইত্যাদি।

7. Conjunction: যে word দুইটি words বা senteces কে যুক্ত করে, তাকে conjunction বলে। যেমনঃ and, but, or, since, as, because, while, ইত্যাদি।

8. Interjection. যে word মনের আবেগ প্রকাশ করে, তাকে interjection বলে। যেমনঃ oh! Ah! Bravo! Alas! Hallo! ইত্যাদি।
