Learn phrases with example sentences.

​1. Break a leg

​Bangla Meaning: শুভকামনা (Good luck!)

​Example: "I know you’ve practiced hard for the play. Break a leg tonight!"

​2. Under the weather

​Bangla Meaning: অসুস্থ বোধ করা (Feeling sick)

​Example: "I won't be able to come to the office today; I’m feeling a bit under the weather."

​3. Piece of cake

​Bangla Meaning: খুব সহজ কাজ (Very easy task)

​Example: "Don't worry about the math test; it was a piece of cake."

​4. Better late than never

​Bangla Meaning: একেবারে না হওয়ার চেয়ে দেরিতে হওয়া ভালো (It’s better to arrive or do something late than not at all)

​Example: "He finally apologized for his mistake after two weeks. Well, better late than never."

​5. Once in a blue moon

​Bangla Meaning: কদাচিৎ বা খুব কমই ঘটে এমন (Very rarely)

​Example: "My brother lives in Canada, so I only see him once in a blue moon."

​6. Call it a day

​Bangla Meaning: আজকের মতো কাজ শেষ করা (To stop working on something for the rest of the day)

​Example: "We’ve been working for ten hours. Let’s call it a day and go home."

​7. Beat around the bush

​Bangla Meaning: আসল কথা না বলে ঘুরিয়ে ফিরিয়ে বলা (To avoid getting to the main point)

​Bangla Meaning: ঘুমাতে যাওয়া (To go to sleep)

​Example: "I’m exhausted after the long trip. I think it’s time to hit the sack."

​9. Keep your chin up

​Bangla Meaning: মনোবল না হারানো / সাহস রাখা (To stay positive in a difficult situation)

​Example: "Keep your chin up! I’m sure you’ll find a better job soon."

​10. Cost an arm and a leg

​Bangla Meaning: খুব দামী বা চড়া দাম (Very expensive)

​Example: "That new smartphone is amazing, but it costs an arm and a leg."
