Feeling busy? Sometimes “I’m busy” just doesn’t say enough. 😅
When your to-do list keeps growing, your phone won’t stop buzzing, and deadlines are coming at you from every direction, these expressions can help you describe that feeling more naturally:
“Up to my eyeballs in paperwork” means extremely busy with paperwork or tasks.
“I have my hands full” means you are so busy that you cannot take on anything else.
“I have a lot on my plate” means you have many responsibilities or things to deal with.
“As busy as a bee” describes someone who is constantly active and occupied.
These expressions are especially useful for IELTS Speaking because they can help you move beyond simple words like “busy” and express your ideas in a more natural and varied way.
So next time someone asks, “Are you busy?” you know there are plenty of better ways to answer! 😉
Save this post and try using one of these expressions in your next English conversation.
