Exciting Session for BUET Students!

On behalf of MMMRN, we are pleased to announce an exclusive research session featuring Md. Shajedul Hoque Thakur, Assistant Professor of Materials Science and Engineering at King Fahd University of Petroleum & Minerals (KFUPM). Previously a postdoctoral fellow in the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at the University of Houston, he earned his PhD in Materials Science and Nano-Engineering from Rice University (2021-2024), focusing on additive manufacturing of bio-inspired sustainable composites, and a BSc in Mechanical Engineering from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET).

This specialized session, organized by MMMRN (Multiscale Mechanical Modeling and Research Network), brings cutting-edge insights on 3D printing innovations like sustainable wood nano-composites, machine learning for material property prediction, and molecular dynamics simulations directly to students. Since its advent in 2013, the Multiscale Mechanical Modeling and Research Network (MMMRN) has worked towards fostering a research-oriented community and supporting undergraduate students at BUET in achieving their research goals across various fields.
In continuation of this effort, we are thrilled to announce our first official session of the year: "Multiscale Mechanical Modeling and Research Network (MMMRN): An Introduction."
This session will provide an overview of our objectives, the scope of our work, and how we operate. MMMRN focuses on a wide array of research areas, including Machine Learning, Heat Transfer, Fluid Dynamics, NanoMechanics, and Bio-Engineering. We successfully completed our session on the basics of Density Functional Theory yesterday. It was a rewarding experience with participation from a diverse audience of over a hundred individuals; and had a very lively QnA segment.

We want to thank our instructor, Md. Siratul Mostakim Ifty, for his valuable time and concise presentation. We also want to extend our gratitude to our respected alumni for their help and input during and before the session.
