Happy Mother's Day!
Thank you to the women who sparked our first curiosity!
Behind every engineer, doctor or any professional is a mother who believed in us before we believed in ourselves. You are the beacon that ushers hope into our lives. And behind every achievement is a mother who encouraged, and inspired us to keep moving forward.
Today, we honor the incredible women who power our lives through unconditional love and support.
On behalf of the IEEE NSU PES SBC family, we wish all mothers and mother figures a joyful and heartfelt Happy Mother's Day.

The IEEE NSU Power and Energy Society Student Branch Chapter successfully organized the “IEEE PES Day Celebrations 2026” at North South University, focusing on the global theme, “Innovating Today, Energizing Tomorrow.” The event highlighted how current innovations shape the future of energy and stressed the need for cleaner, smarter, and more sustainable solutions. It served as a platform to recognize advancements in the power sector and promote collaboration for a sustainable future.
The event began with remarks from Mr. Saif Ahmed, Lecturer at the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Branch Counselor of IEEE NSU SB, and Faculty Advisor of IEEE NSU PES SBC, who discussed the IEEE PES mission and the growing importance of sustainable energy. After the opening remarks, Mr. Zaidullah Zubair, Solution Manager at Huawei Digital Power, delivered the keynote session, sharing valuable industry insights.
In his keynote, Mr. Zubair discussed the global shift to clean energy, driven by the 2015 Paris Agreement and $300 billion in annual investments to reduce carbon emissions. He highlighted Huawei's contributions as a leading ICT provider, including a 1.17-billion-ton reduction in global carbon emissions and major projects such as the Yalong River solar plant in China. Focusing on Bangladesh, the center of Huawei's South Asian operations, he emphasized progress in renewable energy despite ongoing environmental challenges. Among the achievements were a 300-kW plant, a successful business in Lalmonirhat with profits from private companies, and $16,000 in savings by Paragon Poultry Company. He also addressed the rise of electric vehicles and outlined Huawei's efforts to develop inverters and establish an EV charging port between Dhaka and Chattogram.
After the speeches, Tanjid Haidar, the Vice Chair of IEEE NSU PES SBC, led the quiz competition on power and energy concepts, which were discussed in the keynote session. Mohibul Islam Badhon, Adiba, and Azad Shikto were recognized as the top three winners, with prizes awarded by Mr. Zaidullah Zubair and Md. Sakhawat Sony, from Huawei. Mr. Saif Ahmed and Mr. Shafayet Hossain, the faculty advisors of IEEE NSU PES SBC, then presented a token of appreciation to the keynote speaker. The event concluded with a cake-cutting ceremony followed by a group photo. IEEE NSU PES SBC thanks all participants, guests, and volunteers for making PES Day 2025 a memorable and impactful event.
