BGMEA University of Fashion and Technology (BUFT) is a prime university of Bangladesh aimed to produce technically competent human resources for the RMG sector of the country. It was established by Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) in 1999. It started functioning in 2000 and wasaffiliated to the National University, Bangladesh in 2001. Since its inception it is organizing B.Sc. Honors course in Apparel Manufacture &Technology, and Fashion Design & Technology. In addition to honors course it is organizing 1- year diploma course in Apparel Merchandising, Apparel Manufacturing& Technology,Fashion Design & Technology, six months certificate courses o Merchandising and short courses relevant to the need of the RMG sector.

BUFT Textile Engineering Alumni Donate Tk 1 Lakh to Support Students in Need

The Textile Engineering Alumni Association of BGMEA University of Fashion & Technology (BUFT) has donated Tk 1 lakh to support textile engineering students facing financial difficulties. The association handed over the donation cheque to Mr. Md. Mesbha Uddin Ali, chairman of the BUFT Board of Trustees (BoT), at the chairman’s conference room on 30 September 2026. The financial assistance is aimed at helping students overcome financial constraints and continue their studies without interruption. University officials and members of the Textile Engineering Alumni Association were present at the cheque handover ceremony.

11th International Business Genius Bangladesh 2026 Held at BUFT

The 11th International Business Genius Bangladesh (BGB) 2026 was held at the BGMEA University of Fashion & Technology (BUFT) campus on September 26, bringing together students, academics, industry professionals and celebrities to promote youth entrepreneurship and innovation. Organized by Business Genius Bangladesh in association with the Faculty of Apparel Studies, BUFT, the daylong program featured business idea presentations, quizzes, cooking competitions, debates and cultural activities. The initiative aims to empower aspiring student entrepreneurs, encourage innovative business ideas and strengthen connections between academia and industry. The opening ceremony was chaired by Dr. M. Abdullah Al Mamun, Chief Adviser of Business Genius Bangladesh. Prof. Dr. Engr. Ayub Nabi Khan, Vice Chancellor of BUFT, attended as chief guest, while Prof. Dr. Engr. Mohammed Rubaiyat Chowdhury, Dean of the Faculty of Apparel Studies, was the guest of honor.

Among others, Mr. Md. Mozammel Haque, Head of Corporate Affairs and Brand Communication at Farazy Hospital Ltd, Mr. Sabbir Ahmed Abir, Head of Apparel Merchandising & Management at BUFT, and Mr. M A Nahiyan, Chairman of Business Genius Bangladesh, attended the event. Dr. M Mokter Hossen, Managing Director of Farazy Hospital Ltd, attended the closing ceremony as chief guest and distributed crests among winners of the various competitions. Actresses Bobby Haque and Orchita Sporshia, actor Joy Chowdhury, brand promoters Bipasha Kabir and Barisha Haque, and film producer-director Sakib Sonet were also present as celebrity guests. The 11th edition of BGB will continue with campus engagement, mentorship initiatives and business idea competitions aimed at developing entrepreneurial skills among young people across Bangladesh. Business Genius Bangladesh is a platform focused on youth entrepreneurship, innovative business strategies and global networking opportunities for students and young professionals.
