Korail Slum, Mohakhali, Dhaka
Dhaka, the center and being the capital of Bangladesh, is the most densely populated city. About 150000-200000 people are adding up to this amount, every single year, being said the number of slums are also at an increase. Under privileged people who are living their lives on the line, are mostly deprived of their basic rights. Out of all the different slums that we have here in Dhaka, Korail happens to be one of the most colossal slums. According to the survey of an NGO, more than 60 thousand people, fight their living and reside in this slum being sized 0.3 sq/km. Light in the Darkness
Out of all the underprivileged children who are deprived of the basic civil rights and are barred from all the different necessities, We are trying to spread the light of hope, the word of God and education, specifically to the girls as they happen to be the most neglected and are often disregarded. In 2008, the incentive of this particular mission got us to start a school for these girls, in a very small rented room. We basically reaches and teaches these girls with the word of God and extra love and care, as they, already mentioned above, are disadvantaged and are often desolated even by their families and relatives. If we never helped these girls, they would have either been given in marriages or enforced to work at houses as maids. Education and the word of God are changing their lives for good for a better future. As almost all the girls are Muslims, having to share the gospel while giving them the education, is our main goal. Although we had a lot hindrance in the beginning, we soon were appreciated with the love and words of encouragement on this issue. At present day, we have two schools for girls which are being run pretty well in Korail and Joarshahara (two underdeveloped areas). We are looking forward to opening another school in Jogannathpur (another area) in 2016. We have done so far :
Gave 800 girls the privilege for education from 2008-2014
Gave 58 girls, who were graduated from our schools, the opportunity and aided them to work in garments factories, salons, shopping malls, schools and offices
Helped 17 girls, who were graduated from our schools, get involved in higher education
Successfully stopped two child marriages
How we are helping: Through this individual support we individually give students their books, lunch, school dress, bag, stationaries, training materials and raw materials for handicrafts for free. The individual amount also includes the house rents, teachers’ payments and stipend for a handful of students. To date detailed activities:
