📒 | The defence boards of final semester students took place on August 21, 2026, at the Department of Journalism, Media and Communication (JMC) to evaluate their Internship/Project reports. Ms. Jimi Amir, Project Manager at DW Akademie, and Mr. Shariful Hasan, Associate Director at BRAC, were present as external members of the Boards, that took place simultaneously, along with six other faculty members of the department.

On 17 August 2026, JMC'54 students visited the July Mass Uprising Memorial Museum as part of their Bangladesh Media: Laws & Ethics course under the guidance of Mr. Meherabul Haque Rafi, Lecturer at JMC, DIU. The visit gave students an opportunity to learn about the events, records, and materials preserved at the museum.

By exploring the exhibits and connecting them with classroom discussions, students examined how media, law, ethics, and public memory shape the way events are documented and remembered.

A story starts with a fact, moves through reporting and editing, and ends up on a page. On 15 August 2026, JMC'54 organized Front Page, the publication and unveiling ceremony of the JMC Gazette, where print was proof of the work behind every story.

As part of the News Editing & Fact Checking course, three teams worked on three Gazette editions, taking their stories from information gathering and reporting to editing and fact-checking.

The course was conducted by Dr. Md. Abdul Kabil Khan, Associate Professor and Head, JMC, DIU.

The ceremony was attended by Muhammad Zahidul Islam, Vice President & Head of Media and Communications, Nagad, and Khawaza Main Uddin, Journalist & Op-Ed Writer, who joined the students and shared their experiences from the field.

The event brought classroom work to the printed page, giving JMC'54 a chance to see their stories published in the Gazette! 🙌

On 12 August 2026, the Department of Journalism, Media and Communication (JMC) at Daffodil International University came together at JMC Media Lab, Daffodil Smart City, for a moment of transition.

After five years as the Head of the Department, Dr. Aftab Hossain, the captain of the ship, handed over the responsibility to Dr. Md. Abdul Kabil Khan, the newest navigator of JMC. The moment marked a change in responsibility while keeping the work, memories, and connections built over the years within the department’s journey.

Faculty members, students, alumni, stakeholders, administration, and members of the JMC family joined the programme to witness the handover and share the moment together. From one hand to another, the responsibility moves forward, while the people and stories remain part of JMC.

The ceremony ends, but the journey continues with a new navigator at the wheel. Thank you to everyone who joined us and became part of this moment! 🙌
