Work with Dr. Emma Whelan on the CARINA project, using machine learning and astronomy to study how planets form.

Rejection rates were higher in the January and May 2025 intakes, especially for college applicants. It’s not really about the colleges themselves directly —it’s about how you’re proving your intentions. If you’re eligible for a university but still apply to a college, it can make your profile look weak and raise questions about your intentions.

We are looking for a talented and driven PhD student
who is passionate about sustainability for an EPA
funded PhD Scholarship in the area of Waste
Management and Life Cycle Assessment within the
School of Business, Maynooth University. The PhD
candidate will work on the environmental, social and
economic assessment of textile waste in Ireland 🇮🇪 .

Candidates with an excellent bachelor’s and master’s
degrees in Business, Engineering, Environmental
Management, Geography, Environmental
Science/Technology or related areas with a focus on
sustainability will be preferred.

Closing date: 15th of June, 5pm Irish Time.

Students with backgrounds in textiles or environmental
studies are highly recommended 👍
