The 64-year- old programming language COBOL, or the Common Business Oriented Language, handles 3 trillion dollars worth of transactions each day despite the fact that most schools and universities stopped teaching it decades ago. Though it's incredibly important, not many people are interested in learning COBOL due to its clunky nature, and most of the programmers who can work with it are aging out of the workforce. So what can be done? IBM thinks that AI, specifically its generative-AI-powered coding assistant watsonx, can help. Click the link below to learn more about this tricky situation and how IBM’s AI can potentially lead to innovation in coding translation.
