Conferral of the Title “Rabindracharya” upon Professor D**g Youchen of China and Celebration of the 600th Session of Vabnagar Sadhusanga
On the occasion of the 600th session of the Charyāpada revival initiative organized by the UNESCO-accredited Vabnagar Foundation, a special three-part program was held on 8 April 2026, from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM, at Bangla Academy and Suhrawardy Udyan.
In the opening session, held at the Kabi Al Mahmud Writers’ Corner of Bangla Academy, the welcome address was delivered by Nurunnabi Shanto, Executive Director of Vabnagar Foundation. This was followed by a collective performance of Charyāpada songs by spiritual practitioner-artists from different regions of Bangladesh, including Shah Alam Dewan, Baul Antor Sarkar, Sadhika Srijoni Tania, Shila Mallik, Andha Al Amin Sarkar Pipashi, Zillur Sarkar, Helal Uddin, Fateh Kalam, Meena Pagli, Payel, among others.
The second session featured a colorful Charyā music procession in Suhrawardy Udyan, marking the 600th session of Vabnagar Sadhusanga. The procession was joined by Professor D**g Youchen and Professor Shikha from China, Professor Jinbodhi Bhikkhu of the University of Chittagong, along with numerous practitioner-artists and distinguished writers and researchers from across Bangladesh. More than a hundred artists enlivened the tree-lined areas of the park with performances using traditional instruments such as ektara, dotara, khanjani, duggi, and mandira.
The third session took place at the designated venue of Vabnagar Sadhusanga in Suhrawardy Udyan, where the 600th gathering of the Charyāpada revival was formally observed. Professor D**g Youchen attended as the Chief Guest. In recognition of his outstanding contributions to the translation and editing of complete works of Rabindranath Tagore into Chinese, and his efforts in promoting Bengali language and literature at the university level in China, he was conferred the honorary title of “Rabindracharya” by the Vabnagar Foundation. On this occasion, he was presented with a certificate and a commemorative crest. The practitioner-artists of Charyāpada also honored him with floral garlands.
In his special address, delivered in both Bangla and Chinese, titled “Unknown Aspects of the Known Charyāpada,” Professor D**g Youchen stated:
“The ancient manuscript of Charyāpada was discovered by Mahamahopadhyay Haraprasad Shastri. Its songs express the essence of Buddhism in the style of Baul music. The revival of this lost musical tradition by the spiritual practitioners of Bangladesh is an extraordinary achievement. Today, witnessing Charyāpada as a living tradition gives us profound joy. Through its ancient wisdom, we are able to perceive the beauty of human spirituality.”
Among other speakers were Professor Shikha from China and Professor Jinbodhi Bhikkhu from the University of Chittagong.
Following the speeches, the first verse of Charyāpada composed by Luipa was performed. Additionally, Sadhika Srijoni Tania—an internationally acclaimed composer, performer, and trainer of Charyāpada music—presented seventeen Charyā songs in Raga Shri. Other performances in contemporary Bengali were rendered by Baul Antor Sarkar (Manikganj), Shah Alam Dewan (Barishal), Shila Mallik (Shariatpur), Helal Uddin (Jamalpur), Andha Al Amin Sarkar Pipashi (Kishoreganj), Zillur Sarkar, Roknuddin, Fateh Kalam (Jhenaidah), Gyanhin Naim (Jhenaidah), Payel (Gazipur), and others.
The overall program was moderated by playwright and researcher Dr. Saymon Zakaria.
Distinguished attendees included Professor Shahidul Hasan of the Department of History, University of Dhaka; Assistant Professor Zobayer Abdullah of the Department of Bangla; poet Shaheen Rizvi; Charu Uttam Barua, editor of Charulata magazine; Sylheti Nagri script researcher Mostafa Selim; researcher S. G. Kibria Dipu; dancer Anandita Khan; Asif Mohammad Mosaddek; researcher Hasan Dabir Uddin; researcher and NGO worker Nazmul Hossain; researcher Nure Alam Siddiqi, among others.

চীনের অধ্যাপক দং ইউছেনকে "রবীন্দ্রাচার্য" উপাধি প্রদান ও ভাবনগর সাধুসঙ্গের ৬০০তম আসরপূর্তি উদযাপন
ইউনেস্কোর এক্রিডিয়েটেড সংস্থা ভাবনগর ফাউন্ডেশনের চর্যাপদ পুনর্জাগরণের ৬০০তম আসরপূর্তি উপলক্ষ্যে ৮ই এপ্রিল ২০২৬ দুপুর ২টা থেকে সন্ধ্যা ৬টা পর্যন্ত বাংলা একাডেমি ও সোহরাওয়ার্দী উদ্যানে ৩টি পর্বে বিশেষ একটি অনুষ্ঠান উদযাপিত হয়েছে।
বাংলা একাডেমির কবি আল মাহমুদ লেখক কর্নারে অনুষ্ঠিত উদ্বোধনী পর্বে স্বাগত বক্তৃতা করেন ভাবনগর ফাউন্ডেশনের নির্বাহী পরিচালক নূরুননবী শান্ত। এরপর সমবেত কণ্ঠে চর্যাপদের গান পরিবেশন করেন বাংলাদেশের বিভিন্ন প্রান্ত থেকে আগত সাধকশিল্পী শাহ আলম দেওয়া, বাউল অন্তর সরকার, সাধিকা সৃজনী তানিয়া, শিলা মল্লিক, অন্ধ আল আমিন সরকার পিপাসী, জিল্লুর সরকার, হেলাল উদ্দিন, ফতেহ কালাম, মীনা পাগলি, পায়েল প্রমুখ।
অনুষ্ঠানের দ্বিতীয় পর্বে সোহরাওয়ার্দী উদ্যানে ভাবনগর সাধুসঙ্গের ৬০০তম আসরপূর্তি উপলক্ষ্যে বর্ণাঢ্য চর্যাসংগীত শোভাযাত্রা অনুষ্ঠিত হয়। চর্যাসংগীত শোভাযাত্রায় অংশগ্রহণ করেন চীনের অধ্যাপক দং ইউছেন ও শিখা এবং চট্টগ্রাম বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের অধ্যাপক জিনবোধী ভিক্ষুসহ বাংলাদেশের বিভিন্ন প্রান্তের সাধকশিল্পী ও বরেণ্য লেখক-গবেষক। শতাধিক সাধকশিল্পী একতারা, দোতারা, খঞ্জনি, ডুগি, মন্দিরা প্রভৃতি ঐতিহ্যগত বাদ্য বাজিয়ে চর্যাসংগীত পরিবেশনের মাধ্যমে সোহরাওয়ার্দী উদ্যানের বৃক্ষশোভিত অঞ্চল মুখরিত করেন।
অনুষ্ঠানের তৃতীয় পর্বে সোহরাওয়ার্দী উদ্যানে ভাবনগর সাধুসঙ্গের নির্ধারিত স্থানে প্রাচীন বাংলার চর্যাপদ পুনর্জাগরণের ৬০০তম আসর অনুষ্ঠিত হয়। এতে প্রধান অতিথি হিসেবে উপস্থিত ছিলেন অধ্যাপক ইউছেন। ভাবনগর ফাউন্ডেশনের পক্ষ থেকে তাঁকে রবীন্দ্ররচনাবলি চীনাভাষায় অনুবাদ-সম্পাদনা এবং চীনে বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় পর্যায়ে বাংলা ভাষা ও সাহিত্যের শিক্ষা প্রচার ও প্রসারে বিশেষ অবদানের স্বীকৃতি স্বরূপ "রবীন্দ্রাচার্য" উপাধি প্রদান করা হয়। উপাধি প্রদানের অনুষ্ঠানে তাঁকে সম্মাননা স্মারক হিসেবে একটি সার্টিফিকেট ও ক্রেস্ট প্রদান করা হয়। এসময় “রবীন্দ্রাচার্য” উপাধিতে ভূষিত অধ্যাপক দং ইউছেনকে ভাবনগর ফাউন্ডেশনের পক্ষ থেকে চর্যাপদের গানের সাধকশিল্পীরা ফুলের মালা প্রদান করে। এই অনুষ্ঠানে চীনের অধ্যাপক দং ইউছেন ভাবনগর সাধুসঙ্গের চর্যাপদ পুনর্জাগরণের ৬০০তম আসরপূর্তি উপলক্ষ্যে বাংলা ও চীনা ভাষায় একটি বিশেষ বক্তৃতা করেন । “জানা চর্যাপদের অজানা কথা” শীর্ষক বক্তৃতায় তিনি বলেন-“চর্যাপদের প্রাচীন পাণ্ডুলিপির আবিষ্কারক মহামহোপাধ্যায় হরপ্রসাদ শাস্ত্রী। এতে বৌদ্ধধর্মের মর্মকথা বাউলগানের আঙ্গিকে প্রকাশ পেয়েছে। সেই গানের বিলুপ্ত ধারাকে পুনর্জাগরণের মাধ্যমে বাংলাদেশের ভাবসাধকেরা অসামান্য একটি কাজ করেছেন। এখন চর্যাপদকে জীবন্ত দেখতে পেয়ে আমাদের আনন্দের যথেষ্ট কারণ আছে। প্রধান কারণ চর্যাপদের প্রাচীন জ্ঞানের মাধ্যমে আমরা মানবধর্মের সৌন্দর্য দেখতে পাই।” অন্যদের মধ্যে বক্তৃতা করেন চীনের অধ্যাপক শিখা, চট্টগ্রামের বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের অধ্যাপক জিনবোধী ভিক্ষু প্রমুখ।
এরপর ভাবনগর সাধুসঙ্গের ৬০০তম আসরে লুইপা রচিত চর্যাপদের প্রথমপদ পরিবেশিত হয়। এছাড়া, রাগাশ্রী সুরে চর্যাপদের ১৭সংখ্যক গান পরিবেশন করেন আন্তর্জাতিক খ্যাতিসম্পন্ন চর্যাপদের গানের সুরকার, শিল্পী ও প্রশিক্ষক সাধিকা সৃজনী তানিয়া। অন্যদের মধ্যে সমকালীন বাংলায় চর্যাপদ পরিবেশন করেন মানিকগঞ্জের বাউল অন্তর সরকার, বরিশালের শাহ আল দেওয়ান, শরিয়তপুরের শিলা মল্লিক, জামালপুরের হেলাল উদ্দিন, কিশোরগঞ্জের অন্ধ আল আমিন সরকার পিপাসী, জিল্লুর সরকার, রোকনউদ্দিন, ঝিনাইদহের ফতেহ কালাম, জ্ঞানহীন নাইম, গাজীপুরের পায়েল প্রমুখ।
সামগ্রিকভাবে অনুষ্ঠান সঞ্চালনা করেন নাট্যকার ও গবেষক ড. সাইমন জাকারিয়া।
অনুষ্ঠানে উপস্থিত সুধীজনদের মধ্যে ছিলেন ঢাকা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের ইতিহাস বিভাগের অধ্যাপক শহিদুল হাসান, বাংলা বিভাগের সহকারী অধ্যাপক জোবায়ের আবদুল্লাহ, কবি শাহীন রিজভী, চারুলতা পত্রিকার সম্পাদক চারুউত্তম বড়ুয়া, সিলেটী নাগরীলিপি গবেষক মোস্তফা সেলিম, গবেষক এস জি কিবরিয়া দিপু, নৃত্যশিল্পী আনন্দিতা খান, আসিফ মোহাম্মদ মোসাদ্দেক, গবেষক হাসান দবির উদ্দিন, গবেষক ও এনজিওকর্মী নাজমুল হোসেন, গবেষক নূরে আলম ছিদ্দিক প্রমুখ।
