Social Media Literacy workshop

Social Media Literacy Workshop at the EMK Center X Mekateam

We designed and conducted a participatory session on Democracy and Democratic Backsliding at the Artivism for Democracy training organized by Kashful Foundation.

Instead of using traditional lecture methods, we gamified the entire session to gradually unveil the core concepts. Through interactive games, role-play simulations, and decision-making exercises, participants experienced:

-How democratic institutions function
-How power concentration happens
-How civic space shrinks
-How misinformation influences public opinion

The games were designed in a way that participants first felt the change in power dynamics before we introduced the theoretical concepts of democratic backsliding. This experiential approach helped them critically reflect on real-world examples and connect theory with lived realities.

Team Building is fun when it's outdoors.
