Information Technology, or IT, is the study, design, creation, utilization, support, and management of computer-based information systems, especially software applications and computer hardware. IT is not limited solely to computers though. With technologies quickly developing in the fields of cell phones, PDAs and other handheld devices, the field of IT is quickly moving from compartmentalized computer-focused areas to other forms of mobile technology. In today’s advanced technological environment, the field of IT is very large; those who work in the field are computer hardware and software designers, computer engineers, and specialists who maintain large computer networks and database systems. IT professionals maintain databases for organizations and make sure that they are up to date and run smoothly. They resolve problems with the computers on their network by installing and maintaining the programs that run on them, monitoring overall system health and resolving problems such as computer viruses so that they do not spread quickly and cause network-wide system crashes.

1. A Bachelor Degree or its equivalent, with a minimum CGPA of 2.75; OR

2. A Bachelor Degree or its equivalent, with a minimum CGPA of 2.50 and not meeting CGPA of 2.75, can be accepted subject to rigorous internal assessment process; OR

3. A Bachelor Degree of its equivalent, with CGPA less than 2.50, with a minimum of 5 years working experience in a relevant field may be accepted.

This programme is an academic programme specifically tailored for technical-oriented students who possess deep interests and high tendencies to develop and improve industrial information systems and applications, model and simulate manufacturing systems, design and machine engineering products, and analyze and optimize production solutions to cater for industrial needs.

Industrial computing is a special hybrid skill set comprising computer science, manufacturing engineering and operations management. This programme concentrates on, but not limited to, industrial information system/application analysis and development, robotic manipulator arm and mechanism modeling, simulation and programming, programmable logic controller programming, manufacturing system modeling, simulation and analysis, engineering product design and machining, and operations management statistical data analysis.

Bachelor of Computer Science program (Software Engineering) (Hons) was established mainly to support the development and needs of the software development process from system specification level to the manageable system level after it has been utilized. This program produces graduates who can understand user requirements and develop software system. 5. Pass Sijil Tinggi Agama Malaysia (STAM) with at least Jayyid (Good) Level AND Pass Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) or equivalent inclusive of Bahasa Melayu and credit in Additional Mathematics

=== Note: Candidates with CGPA below 2.50 but above 2.00 with a credit in Additional Mathematics at SPM level or its equivalent may be admitted subject to a rigorous internal assessment process.

Candidate with a credit in computing related subject at SPM or STPM level or its equivalent may be given preferential consideration.
