Our "Contemporary Middle East" course students of MAHAS turned a semester bond into a real adventure, hopping over to Jahangirnagar University for a field trip with our adjunct Professor, Dr. Mohammad Golam Rabbani! From a hearty meal to an exclusive tour of the History & Philosophy Departments, and even a meet-up with the History Department Chairman, this trip had it all.

Grateful to the professors who take learning beyond the classroom!

The Department bid a heartfelt farewell to the 4th Chair of DHP, Prof. Dr. Mahbubur Rahman, whose leadership as Chairperson has left a lasting impact on our department, faculty, and students. The program was graced by the presence of the Vice-Chancellor, Pro-Vice-Chancellor, Treasurer, Deans of SHSS and SBE, and members of the faculty members, who came together to honour Dr. Rahman's dedication, vision, and years of service.

Under his Chairmanship, the department witnessed remarkable growth, guided always by his integrity, warmth, and unwavering commitment to his team. On behalf of the entire department, we thank Prof. Dr. Mahbubur Rahman for his years of leadership and mentorship. We wish him continued good health, happiness, and success in the journey ahead.

It is with immense pride and a touch of nostalgia that we bid farewell to our respected Senior Lecturer, Anupam Debashish Roy Sir, as he embarks on a new academic journey to pursue his PhD at the University of Oxford. Congratulations, Sir. Oxford is fortunate to have you, and we will always carry forward the lessons you've given us.

Step into history! On August 15, 2026, the Department of History and Philosophy (DHP) at North South University hosted an immersive walking tour titled "Revisiting Old Dhaka".

Led by DHP faculty members alongside 33 enthusiastic students, our 38-member delegation explored iconic heritage destinations including Baldha Garden, Rose Garden Palace, Northbrook Hall, Ahsan Manzil, Armenian Church, Lalbagh Fort, and the Dhakeshwari National Temple.

Through immersive site visits, rickshaw rides, and interactive discussions, participants experienced centuries of rich socio-political history firsthand. A memorable day connecting academic learning with heritage! 🏛️✨
