We are happy to share that Bangladesh Youth Environmental Initiative (BYEI) is honored to be recognized as one of the 2025 winners of the Global E-STEM Excellence Award, presented by Pratt & Whitney and the North American Association for Environmental Education - NAAEE, for the National Earth Olympiad (NEO).

NEO is an education and knowledge movement to nurture the future scholars, policy-makers, and practitioners to generate knowledge and provide thought leadership for a sustainable future.

Since 2012, NEO has engaged (participation) 25,000+ students from 700+ educational institutions nationwide to promote earth and environmental science education, and trained 2,800+ students through Green Day Training (GDT) to develop a new generation of Planetary Stewards.

With this award, BYEI plans to scale NEO 2026 with in-person divisional exams, training, and E-STEM Action Projects empowering youth, especially students and girls from remote coastal areas, to address local environmental issues.

We are very grateful to our partners and alumni for their continuous support over the years.

The IESO 2025 Team Bangladesh completed their field trip from July 17 to 19 in Kaptai, Rangamati, reinforcing the practical aspects of their training.

The team included national team members, guest students, and three esteemed mentors from the Geology Department of Dhaka University: Mohammad Solaiman, Md Asif Uz Zaman, and Nubahus Subah Chowdhury. We are deeply grateful to them for their invaluable guidance and dedication in nurturing these young minds.

During the field trip, the students explored various sedimentary rock deposits and engaged in hands-on geological investigations. A key highlight was the Sitapahar Anticline study, where students identified the fold axis through systematic bedding attitude measurements. They also gained hands-on experience with essential field tools, such as clinometers, learning how to effectively measure strike and dip.

We are also deeply grateful to the Department Of Geology, University Of Dhaka, for generously supporting this trip and making the experience possible.
