The English Club successfully organized a memorable Movie Day, where 50 enthusiastic students and all the respected faculty members came together to enjoy "The Odyssey" at Star Cineplex. 🎥🍿

It was a wonderful day filled with entertainment, togetherness, and unforgettable moments. The event was truly a success, and we are grateful to everyone who made it so special.

Extempore Speech Competition 2026 | A Celebration of Voices & Ideas

The Career Club, Central Women’s University (CWU) successfully organized the Extempore Speech Competition 2026, bringing together talented students from different colleges and departments to showcase their confidence, spontaneity, and communication skills.

The competition featured three categories—College Level, University Level Group A (1st & 2nd Year), and Group B (3rd & 4th Year). Around 56 students from different departments of CWU participated, with 21 students advancing to the final round after the initial screening.

The program was graced by the presence of the Vice Chancellor and Registrar, who shared inspiring thoughts with the participants. Dr. Tanjela Hossain, Chairperson of the Department of Business Administration and Moderator of the Career Club, delivered the opening speech, while Ms. Zayma Hossain, a student of the Department of Business Administration, skillfully hosted the program.

A wonderful platform where young voices found confidence, ideas found expression, and talent found its moment.

Congratulations to all the participants and heartfelt appreciation to everyone who contributed to making the event a success!

Central Women’s University officially inaugurated the “Slow Journalism: Research & Storytelling in Nonfiction Writing” exhibition, showcasing the creative and research-driven work of students from the Department of Journalism and Media Studies.

Over the past several months, the students have explored stories of life, struggle, resilience, and hope through research, observation, and nonfiction storytelling. Their work is presented through photography, documentaries, and other forms of mixed-media storytelling, reflecting their dedication, creativity, and thoughtful engagement with real-life narratives.

The two-day exhibition was formally inaugurated at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 19, 2026, at the university auditorium. It features the works of seven students: Jubyda Sarmeen, Israt Jahan Happy, Mohaimina Khan, Humayra Kabir Prapti, Rahima Nesa Sneha, Tabassum Monir Ziniya, and Yearon Nesa Sara.

Following the inauguration, the exhibition was visited by Central Women’s University Vice-Chancellor Dr. Parween Hasan, renowned photojournalist and human rights activist Shahidul Alam, along with faculty members and students from various departments.

The exhibition will continue August 20, 2026, offering visitors another opportunity to experience the students’ compelling stories and perspectives through their carefully researched and thoughtfully crafted work.

Opening New Doors of Possibilities — New Computer Lab Inaugurated 💻✨
With the aim of providing students with modern technology-driven education, hands-on learning opportunities, and a broader scope for research, our university has inaugurated a new Computer Lab.
In today’s rapidly evolving technological world, theoretical knowledge alone is not enough. Students also need practical skills, opportunities to apply technology, and hands-on learning experiences. With this goal in mind, the new lab will provide students with a modern and effective learning environment.

Sysnova Information Systems Limited has extended its valuable support to our university by providing the complete setup required for establishing this Computer Lab. On behalf of the university, we sincerely express our gratitude and appreciation for their generous contribution toward creating a modern and technology-enriched learning environment for our students.
The special occasion was graced by the presence of Mr. Kazi Zeeshan Hasan and Mr. Kazi Zahin Hasan, Directors of Kazi Farms Limited; Kazi Zahedul Hasan, Chairperson, Board of Trustees, CWU; Dr. Perween Hasan, Vice Chancellor, CWU and Mr. Elias Ahmed, Registrar, Central Women’s University (CWU).

We believe that this new Computer Lab is more than just a laboratory—it is a new opportunity for our students to learn, practice, conduct research, innovate, and shape their future. Through this lab, students will be able to connect their theoretical classroom knowledge with practical experience and further develop their technical skills.
Here, students will have the opportunity to enhance their skills through programming, networking, server management, system administration, research, and various technology-based practical activities.
Such collaboration between the education and industry sectors will inspire our students to become more skilled, confident, and better prepared for the future.

Empowering Youth Season 1.0: Engaging and Inspiring Youth in Banking

On August 13, 2026, Central Women’s University (CWU) hosted “Empowering Youth Season 1.0”, an initiative by Prime Bank PLC in collaboration with CWU and the CWU Business Club, focusing on financial literacy, money management, and career readiness among female students. The event was graced by the presence of the Vice Chancellor, Registrar, Chairpersons of different departments, faculty members, and distinguished representatives from Prime Bank PLC.

The programme began with the signing of an MOU between Prime Bank PLC and CWU, strengthening industry-academia collaboration. The event featured inspiring sessions by Ms. Shaila Abedin, Senior Executive Vice President & Head of Liability & Women Banking, and Mr. M M Mahbub Hasan, Senior Vice President & Head of Financial Inclusion & School Banking, covering female leadership, corporate ethics, financial inclusion, and youth empowerment.

The event also featured an interactive Q&A and brainstorming session, concluding with the recognition of the Best Team and Best Questioner.

𝗘𝗺𝗽𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗘𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘀, 𝗘𝗺𝗯𝗿𝗮𝗰𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗔𝗜: 𝗖𝗪𝗨-𝗚𝗜𝗭 𝗙𝗮𝗰𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘆 𝗗𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗽𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴

From 24–25 July, Central Women's University (CWU) and GIZ came together for a two-day Faculty Development Training Programme on "AI in Teaching and Research," under the Digital Skills to Succeed in Asia (DS2S) project. The project, financed by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), aims to enhance digital skills among young university students, particularly those in non-technical disciplines and women in Bangladesh, India, and Vietnam, to better prepare them for success in the job market.

Since joining the regional initiative in 2023, CWU has focused on strengthening digital competencies and academic capacity to accelerate digital transformation in higher education. This latest training took that a step further, equipping faculty with practical strategies to integrate AI into curriculum development, classroom engagement, assessment, research design, data analysis, and scholarly writing, always with an emphasis on responsible and effective use.

Vice-Chancellor Dr. Perween Hasan captured the spirit of the programme, thanking trainers and participants and reaffirming CWU's commitment to continued collaboration with GIZ. Perhaps most meaningfully, the training didn't end with theory. Participants left with personal action plans to bring these new AI skills directly into their classrooms next semester, turning learning into practice.
