"Sir, can I skip this topic?"

That is the real question hiding behind "will it come in the exam?" and "how many marks is it worth?"

So we stopped guessing and counted every question from 45 Paper 1 papers (CAIE 9709, 2020–2025).

The short answer: no, you cannot skip anything. All eight topics show up on essentially every paper.

The useful answer: topics are not equal, and the data tells you exactly how.

→ Series: biggest topic, ~13 marks, never below 6
→ Functions: ~11 marks, never below 5
→ Circular measure: 6–7 marks on more than half of all papers — the cheapest marks on the paper to secure
→ Differentiation + Integration: ~21 marks combined, but wildly variable. High risk, high reward.

Smart revision is not about skipping. It is about ordering: bank the predictable marks first, then attack the volatile ones.
