This Mother’s Day, BUP Literature & Drama Club celebrates all mothers, the hearts of our homes, the strength behind our journeys and the light that guides us through every chapter of life.

অপু আর দুর্গার সরল চোখে যে মানুষটি আমাদের জীবনকে নতুন করে দেখতে শিখিয়েছেন, তিনি এক গভীর জীবনদর্শনের শিল্পী, সত্যজিৎ রায়।

তাঁর ‘পথের পাঁচালী’ শুধু একটি চলচ্চিত্র নয়, বরং গ্রামীণ বাংলার শিকড়, দারিদ্র্য, স্বপ্ন ও মানবিক সৌন্দর্যের এক জীবন্ত দলিল, যেখানে সাধারণ জীবনের ভেতরেই তিনি অসাধারণের উপস্থিতি খুঁজে পেয়েছেন। পর্দার গণ্ডি ছাড়িয়ে তাঁর সৃষ্টিশীলতা ছড়িয়ে আছে সাহিত্যেও। ফেলুদার তীক্ষ্ণ বুদ্ধিমত্তা, প্রফেসর শঙ্কুর কল্পনাবিস্ময় ও বৈজ্ঞানিক কৌতূহল, কিংবা তারিণী খুড়োর রোমাঞ্চকর ও কৌতুকময় অভিজ্ঞতা সবকিছুতেই তিনি কল্পনাকে বাস্তবের মতো করে স্পর্শযোগ্য করে তুলেছেন। তাঁর গল্প বলার ভঙ্গি শুধু বিনোদন নয়, বরং জীবনকে অনুভব করার এক গভীর আহ্বান। নীরব ফ্রেমে তিনি যে সত্যগুলো তুলে ধরেছেন, তা সময়কে অতিক্রম করেও আজও সমান প্রাসঙ্গিক ও প্রভাবশালী।

To celebrate the 462nd birthday of Shakespeare, the Literature & Drama Club, BUP organized a vibrant cultural segment that brought literature and performance to life. The stage featured a compelling rendition of The Merchant of Venice by William Shakespeare, followed by the recitation of two sonnets that echoed the richness of poetic tradition. The program also included an original drama written by a student of the Department of English, Zerin Tasnim Ahmed, who intricately embedded various characters from Shakespeare’s plays into a creative and engaging narrative. Altogether, the performances reflected the enduring relevance of Shakespeare and the dynamic spirit of literary and dramatic expression within the department.

The Literature and Drama Club, BUP successfully celebrated Shakespeare’s Day 2026 with a thought-provoking seminar titled “War in Shakespeare: Theoretical Resonance in Contemporary Literary Criticism,” conducted by Lieutenant Colonel Dilip Kumar Roy, PhD, AEC. The session offered insightful perspectives on the enduring relevance of Shakespeare’s treatment of war within contemporary literary discourse.
We extend our sincere appreciation to the keynote speaker for his invaluable contribution, and to all faculty members and participants whose presence and engagement made the event truly meaningful and memorable.

The Literature and Drama Club, BUP is pleased to announce the celebration of Shakespeare’s Day 2026. As part of the observance, a seminar titled “War in Shakespeare: Theoretical Resonance in Contemporary Literary Criticism” will be conducted by Lieutenant Colonel Dilip Kumar Roy, PhD, AEC.
The seminar will be held on 23 April 2026 at 8:30 AM at Bijoy Auditorium.

BUP Literature and Drama Club is proud to announce the celebration of Shakespeare Day 2026 for the very first time at Bangladesh University of Professionals.

Join us on 23rd April, Thursday, as we honor the timeless legacy of William Shakespeare through an engaging and enriching series of events.
The celebration will begin with a seminar at 8:30 AM at Bijoy Auditorium on the topic “War in Shakespeare: Theoretical Resonance in Contemporary Literary Criticism,” to be conducted by Lieutenant Colonel Dilip Kumar Roy, PhD, AEC.
Following the seminar, a cultural segment will be held at 11:00 AM at FBS Lower Plaza, featuring two drama performances and recitations inspired by Shakespeare’s works.

We are especially excited to highlight that this will be the first ever open space drama performance in BUP, a historic and vibrant addition to our campus cultural scene. All students, faculty members, and literature enthusiasts are warmly invited to join us in celebrating the Bard of Avon. Let us come together to celebrate literature, drama, and the enduring spirit of Shakespeare.
