Formation of new Student Society Executive Committees
This is to inform all students of the Department of Mechanical Engineering that new Executive Committees for the ISME, IMechE, and ASHRAE Student Chapters will be formed for a one-year term.
Interested students are invited to apply.
Applicants are advised to carefully read the eligibility criteria and application guidelines provided below before collecting the application form from the Department. Please note that each student is allowed to apply for only one position in only one student society. Applications for multiple positions and/or multiple societies will not be accepted.
Completed application forms must be submitted to the Department on or before 10 August 2026.
The selected Executive Committee members will serve for a one-year term.
Eligibility for Executive Committee
1 General Eligibility
Every applicant shall:
(a) be a currently enrolled student of the Department of Mechanical Engineering;
(b) be a registered member of the respective Society;
(c) possess a minimum cumulative CGPA of 3.20, or such CGPA as may subsequently be prescribed by the Department;
(d) have no disciplinary record under the regulations of IUBAT;
(e) demonstrate leadership, integrity, professionalism, communication skills, teamwork, and commitment to student development; and
(f) be willing to devote sufficient time to Society responsibilities.
The Department may increase, reduce, merge, or redesignate positions whenever necessary to ensure effective administration, and a student may be a member of only one society of the Department.
1.2 Eligibility for Senior Office Bearers
Applicants for the positions of President, Vice-President (2), and General Secretary shall additionally:
a. Applicant must be completed 7th regular semester. 9th /10th semester students will get preference.
b. possess a record of active participation in the respective Society or other recognized University organizations for at least one academic year;
c. demonstrate proven organizational capability, leadership potential, and professional conduct.
1.3 Eligibility for Other Office Bearers
Applicants for other Executive Committee positions should normally be enrolled in Semester 4 or above. The Department may relax semester requirements where sufficient justification exists.
