The President of the Institute of Cost and Management Accountants of Bangladesh (ICMAB), Mr. Md. Kausar Alam FCMA, participated as a Panel Discussant in the “Live Pre-Budget Discussion 2026–27: Expectations of Private Sector” held on April 13, 2026, at the Grand Ballroom of InterContinental Dhaka.
The event was organized by the Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) in collaboration with Channel 24 and Daily Samakal. It brought together policymakers, business leaders, and industry stakeholders to deliberate on key priorities for the upcoming national budget.
Mr. Alam contributed to the panel discussion on Income Tax and VAT, where he emphasized the need for structural tax reforms, simplification of compliance procedures, and ensuring consistency in tax policies to enhance investor confidence and ease of doing business. He also highlighted the importance of addressing definitional inconsistencies and reducing procedural complexities within the tax framework.
The broader discussion covered critical sectors including the financial sector, commerce and industry, and infrastructure development. Participants highlighted the importance of coordinated policy measures, investment-friendly incentives, and strengthened institutional frameworks to support sustainable economic growth.
The event concluded with a strong call for a balanced and forward-looking budget that addresses private sector concerns while promoting long-term economic resilience.
