HSL hosted its Annual Iftar party on March 12, 2026, at K Square, Chattogram, with over 550 attendees. Another event was held on March 13, 2026, at Haque & Sons Ltd, Dhaka Office, with over 250 attendees. The events brought together pool of HSL sailing senior officers at shore and also members of the shipping community, including high officials from various organizations such as the Chittagong Port Authority, Bangladesh Shipping Corporation, Govt. Shipping Office, Mercantile Marine Department, Welfare Directorate, Bangladesh Marine Academy, National Maritime Institute, Marine Fisheries Academy, Bangladesh Merchant Mariners Officers Association, Bangladesh Seamenโs Association, Bangladesh Seafarers Union Leaders, DNV GL, Lloydโs, BV, among others.

Graduation Ceremony of the 14th Batch of Cadets at International Maritime Academy
On January 30, 2026, the International Maritime Academy (IMA) celebrated the graduation of its 14th batch of pre-sea cadets at its permanent campus in Pubail, Gazipur. This year, 79 cadets from the Nautical and Engineering divisions successfully completed their training at Bangladeshโs premier private maritime institution.
The ceremony was graced by Md. Muhidul Islam, Additional Secretary (Development), Ministry of Shipping, who served as the Chief Guest. The event also hosted distinguished representatives from international shipping and manning agencies, local dignitaries, and maritime regulatory bodies.
In his welcome address, Academy Commandant Capt. Zaki Ahad highlighted the academyโs ongoing progress in private-sector maritime education and its state-of-the-art training facilities. The proceedings included a disciplined ceremonial march-past and a formal oath-taking ceremony.
Award Highlights:
Gold Medal (Overall Best Performance): Cadet Fahim Faisal
Silver Medal (Best Nautical Cadet): Cadet Sheakh Tasbeh Kabir Sampad
Silver Medal (Best Engineering Cadet): Cadet Tanvirul Islam
In recognition of their excellence, the Managing Director presented the Gold and Silver medalists with cash awards of 200,000 BDT and 100,000 BDT, respectively.
Following merchant marine tradition, the ceremony concluded with a slow march-past and a vote of thanks delivered by Deputy Commandant Capt. Subrata Kumar Saha.
