The Department of Architecture, Southeast University (SEU), warmly congratulates Mahbuba Siddiqa Moumi and Faisal Ahamed, distinguished alumni of the department, on their remarkable achievement in the Open Architectural Idea Design Competition for the Main Gate and Entry Precinct of the LGED Headquarters, Dhaka, organized by the Institute of Architects Bangladesh (IAB) in collaboration with LGED.
Mahbuba Siddiqa Moumi was a member of the First Prize Winning Team.
Faisal Ahamed secured the Second Prize in the competition.

Southeast University is proud to share that Mashudur Rahman Fahim, Lecturer of the Department of Architecture, was invited as an inaugural speaker of their Heritage Futures Centre’s Lecture Series, titled “Re-Introducing: Early Modern Foreign Architects in Bangladesh,” organized by the Department of Architecture, Daffodil University on May 18, 2026.
During the session, he delivered an insightful lecture on the contributions of early modern foreign architects in Bangladesh and discussed significant architectural works that have played an important role in shaping the country’s architectural heritage and modern identity.
The seminar was attended by distinguished faculty members, Head of the Department Prof. Ar. Khairul Enam along with respected guests and students. The interactive participation of attendees made the event engaging and academically enriching.
Southeast University congratulates Mashudur Rahman Fahim for representing the university through this valuable academic engagement and knowledge-sharing initiative.

The Department of Architecture, Southeast University, successfully hosted a commemorative colloquium in remembrance of Ar. Bashirul Haq, celebrating his enduring legacy in shaping modern architecture in Bangladesh.
The session commenced with a welcome address by Professor Dr Masud Ur Rashid, Chairman, Department of Architecture, SEU, who shared his personal experiences with Bashirul Haq, offering a heartfelt reflection on his character, vision, and contributions to the field of architecture.
The lecture, delivered by Ar. Syed Monirul Islam, Associate Professor, Dept. of Architecture, SEU, offered insightful reflections on Haq’s profound contributions, emphasizing his deep sensitivity to context, climate, and culture.
The session was thoughtfully structured into three parts:
• Exploration of his architectural philosophy in rural settings
• Interpretation of his works within urban contexts
• Discussion on disaster-oriented architecture and its relevance.
An engaging open discussion followed, where students had the opportunity to interact, ask questions, and gain deeper understanding from the speaker.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by the session coordinator, Ar. Mashudur Rahman Fahim, Lecturer,Dept. of Architecture, SEU, while Ar. Zeba Fowziyah Muniyat, Lecturer, Dept. of Architecture, SEU, served as the host, marking the end of a meaningful and enriching academic gathering.

The Department of Architecture at Southeast University (SEU) successfully hosted Colloquium 05 on 02 April, 2026 at the Seminar Library, DoA. The session featured a presentation by Ar. Jeba Fowziyah Muniat, Lecturer of the department of Architecture who shared her research on sustainable residential design.
Her talk, titled “Adaptive Green Remodeling Framework for Multifamily Residential Buildings,” explored innovative strategies for transforming old apartment structures into environmentally responsive living spaces.
In her presentation, she also discussed the development of green space prototypes for multifamily housing, addressing pressing global challenges such as food and energy crises and how urban multifamily residential structures can revive urban ecosystems and promote sustainability.
The colloquium provided an engaging platform for students and faculty to exchange ideas on adaptive reuse, sustainability, and future-oriented architectural practices.
The session was conducted by Ar. Masudur Rahman Fahim, Lecturer, Department of Architecture, SEU. The event was honored by the presence of Prof. Dr. Masud Ur Rashid, Chairman, Department of Architecture, SEU, along with respected faculty members.

Ar. Latifa Sultana, Assistant Professor, Department of Architecture, SEU has successfully presented her research at the 10th International Scientific Conference on Economics & Management (EMAN 2026) held at the University of Oxford, UK. Her presentation took place on 26 March 2026. Her paper titled, "AI-Assisted Residential Design Workflows: Comparative Practice-Grounded AI Use Across Australia and Bangladesh,” was accepted and published among contributions from 41 countries. The study highlighted AI-driven design generation, space optimization, and context-based practice differences, while establishing AI as a supportive tool in architecture. This achievement marks her participation on a global academic platform, strengthens her research focus on AI and sustainability, and opens avenues for future collaboration.
