Mastering Essay Writing Workshop Successfully Held ❤️

Today, the Dhaka Collegiate School English Language Club proudly hosted a special session on “Mastering Essay Writing: Essential Tips & Techniques for School Students”.

Our resource person Jeba Fariha (M.A. in Applied Linguistics & ELT, Jagannath University) shared valuable insights and practical strategies to help students strengthen their writing skills.

We were also honored by the presence of our respected English Teacher Shahadat Sir, whose encouragement truly enriched the session.

The program concluded with closing remarks and a note of thanks delivered by the Founder of the Club, Sagar Kar.

★ ঢাকা কলেজিয়েট স্কুলের ১৯০তম বর্ষপূর্তি উদযাপন ★

ঢাকা কলেজিয়েট স্কুলের গৌরবময় ১৯০তম বর্ষপূর্তি উপলক্ষে আয়োজিত বিশেষ অনুষ্ঠানের আয়োজন করে স্কুলের সক্রিয় আটটি ক্লাবের সমন্বয়ে গঠিত “ঢাকা কলেজিয়েট স্কুল ক্লাব এলায়েন্স”।

অনুষ্ঠানে প্রধান অতিথি হিসেবে উপস্থিত ছিলেন বিদ্যালয়ের সম্মানিত প্রধান শিক্ষক জনাব মোঃ হাবিব উল্লাহ খান। অনুষ্ঠানে আরও উপস্থিত ছিলেন স্কুলের সম্মানীয় শিক্ষকমণ্ডলী, যাঁদের উপস্থিতিতে আয়োজনটি হয়ে ওঠে আরও বর্ণাঢ্য ও তাৎপর্যপূর্ণ।

শ্রদ্ধেয় শিক্ষকমণ্ডলী ও প্রধান অতিথির মূল্যবান বক্তব্যের পর কেক কাটার মাধ্যমে দিনব্যাপী অনুষ্ঠানের আনুষ্ঠানিক উদ্বোধন ঘোষণা করেন মাননীয় প্রধান শিক্ষক জনাব মোঃ হাবিব উল্লাহ খান।

অনুষ্ঠানের শেষ পর্যায়ে ঢাকা কলেজিয়েট স্কুল ক্লাব এলায়েন্সের প্রতিষ্ঠাতা সাগর কর সমাপনী বক্তব্য প্রদান করেন এবং উপস্থিত সকল শিক্ষক, ক্লাব সদস্য, স্বেচ্ছাসেবক ও অতিথিদের প্রতি আন্তরিক কৃতজ্ঞতা ও ধন্যবাদ জ্ঞাপন করেন।

In 1524, Italian writer Gian Giorgio Trissino made waves by suggesting that I and J should be considered separate letters. Yet it wasn't until after Shakespeare's death in 1616 that English fully embraced the J we know today.

Think about it - the original 1611 King James Bible wrote "Iesus" and "Ioseph." Even Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet was originally printed as "Romeo and Iuliet." 📚

The letter J actually began as a decorative tail on the letter I in Roman numerals. What started as calligraphy flourish eventually evolved into its own distinct character. It would take over a century after Trissino's proposal before J was fully accepted as the 10th letter of the English alphabet.

The letters Pilate got written on the cross were - INRI - Iesus Nazarenus Rex Iudeorum..

Modern English speakers might find it hard to imagine Julius Caesar being written as "Iulius Caesar" - but that's exactly how it appeared in texts for centuries. 🖋️
