Airport-এ গিয়ে ইংরেজিতে কীভাবে কথা বলবেন? ✈️

বিদেশে প্রথমবার Airport-এ গেলে অনেকেই বুঝতে পারেন না কীভাবে English-এ কথা শুরু করবেন।

তবে চিন্তার কিছু নেই! কয়েকটি Common Sentences জানলেই আপনি খুব সহজেই Airport Staff-এর সঙ্গে কথা বলতে পারবেন।

আজ শিখুন একটি Real-Life Airport Conversation.

Passenger:
Excuse me, good morning.
বাংলা:
মাফ করবেন, শুভ সকাল।

Receptionist:
Good morning! How can I help you today?
বাংলা:
শুভ সকাল! আজ আমি কীভাবে আপনাকে সাহায্য করতে পারি?

Passenger:
I'm looking for the check-in counter for Emirates flight EK 583. Can you tell me where it is?
বাংলা:
আমি Emirates-এর EK 583 ফ্লাইটের Check-in Counter খুঁজছি। এটা কোথায় বলতে পারবেন?

Receptionist:
Certainly. Emirates check-in is located in Terminal 2, Row D.
বাংলা:
অবশ্যই। Emirates-এর Check-in Counter Terminal 2-এর Row D-তে রয়েছে।

Passenger:
Is that far from here? I almost missed my flight last time, so I want to be quick.
বাংলা:
এটা কি এখান থেকে অনেক দূরে? গতবার আমি অল্পের জন্য ফ্লাইট মিস করেছিলাম, তাই এবার একটু তাড়াতাড়ি যেতে চাই।

Receptionist:
Don't worry, you have plenty of time. Just go straight down this hallway, take the escalator up to the second floor, and you'll see Row D on your left. It's about a five-minute walk.
বাংলা:
চিন্তা করবেন না, আপনার হাতে যথেষ্ট সময় আছে। এই করিডোর দিয়ে সোজা যান, এরপর Escalator দিয়ে দ্বিতীয় তলায় উঠুন। বাম পাশে Row D দেখতে পাবেন। হাঁটলে প্রায় পাঁচ মিনিট লাগবে।

Passenger:
Perfect. Also, where can I weigh my luggage before checking in?
বাংলা:
দারুণ। আর Check-in করার আগে আমি কোথায় লাগেজের ওজন করতে পারি?

Receptionist:
There is a public weighing scale right next to the entrance of Row D.
বাংলা:
Row D-এর প্রবেশপথের ঠিক পাশেই একটি Public Weighing Scale রয়েছে।

আমি অল্পের জন্য পরীক্ষায় পাশ করিনি! – ইংরেজিতে কীভাবে বলবেন?

"Almost" এবং "Narrowly" – দুটোই "অল্পের জন্য" বোঝাতে ব্যবহার হয়। তবে এদের ব্যবহার এক নয়।

◆ Almost + Verb / Past Verb
অর্থ: কোনো কিছু হওয়ার খুব কাছাকাছি ছিল, কিন্তু শেষ পর্যন্ত হয়নি।

Structure:
Subject + almost + Verb (Past / Present)

Example:
• I almost passed the exam.
(আমি অল্পের জন্য পরীক্ষায় পাশ করতে পারিনি।)

• He almost missed the train.
(সে অল্পের জন্য ট্রেন মিস করতে বসেছিল।)

• We almost lost the match.
(আমরা অল্পের জন্য ম্যাচটি হেরে যাচ্ছিলাম।)

• I almost fell down.
(আমি অল্পের জন্য পড়ে যাচ্ছিলাম।)

• The thief almost got caught by the police.
(চোরটি অল্পের জন্য পুলিশের হাতে ধরা পড়েছিল।)

◆ Narrowly + Verb
অর্থ: খুব অল্প ব্যবধানে কোনো খারাপ পরিস্থিতি থেকে বেঁচে যাওয়া বা কোনো কিছু অল্পের জন্য অর্জন করা।

Structure:
Subject + narrowly + Verb (Past)

Example:
• I narrowly passed the exam.
(আমি অল্পের ব্যবধানে পরীক্ষায় পাশ করেছি।)

• He narrowly missed the train.
(সে অল্পের জন্য ট্রেন মিস করেছে।)

• The bus narrowly escaped an accident.
(বাসটি অল্পের জন্য দুর্ঘটনা থেকে বেঁচে গেছে।)

• We narrowly won the match.
(আমরা অল্পের ব্যবধানে ম্যাচটি জিতেছি।)

• The thief narrowly escaped being caught by the police.
(চোরটি অল্পের জন্য পুলিশের হাতে ধরা পড়া থেকে বেঁচে গেছে।)

Almost = কাজটি হতে হতে হয়নি।

Shopping করতে গেলে English-এ কী বলবেন? 🛍️

অনেকেই Grammar জানেন, Vocabulary-ও জানেন, কিন্তু Shop-এ গিয়ে Natural Conversation করতে গিয়ে আটকে যান।

ভালো খবর হলো—প্রায় সব Shop-এ একই ধরনের Sentence Pattern ব্যবহার করা হয়।

আজ শিখুন একটি Common Shop Conversation, যা Clothes Shop, Shoe Shop, Book Shop, Mobile Shop, Grocery Store—প্রায় সব জায়গাতেই ব্যবহার করতে পারবেন।

Customer:
Excuse me, could you help me, please?

Shopkeeper:
Of course. What are you looking for?

Customer:
I'm looking for a shirt.
(এখানে shirt-এর পরিবর্তে bag, book, charger, shoes, gift ইত্যাদি বলতে পারবেন।)

Shopkeeper:
Sure. What kind would you like?

Customer:
Do you have this in a different color?

Shopkeeper:
Yes, we do. What color would you prefer?

Customer:
I'd like a black one, please.

Customer:
Do you have this in a different size?

Shopkeeper:
Yes. What size do you need?

Customer:

Shopkeeper:

Learning Tip:

একটি Conversation মুখস্থ করার দরকার নেই। শুধু Pattern শিখুন।

"I'm looking for a..." এর পরে শুধু Product-এর নাম পরিবর্তন করুন।

যেমন—

• I'm looking for a pair of shoes.
• I'm looking for a phone charger.
• I'm looking for a birthday gift.
• I'm looking for a backpack.

একটি Pattern শিখেই আপনি প্রায় যেকোনো Shop-এ Natural Conversation করতে পারবেন।

সে ঘুমানোর ভান করছে- এটার ইংরেজি কি? 😁

অনেকেই বলেন:
❌ He is acting like he is sleeping.

এর চেয়ে অনেক বেশি Natural হলো:

✅ He is pretending to sleep.

Pretend to = ভান করা / অভিনয় করা যেন কিছু সত্যি

Structure:

Subject + be verb + pretending to + base verb

Examples:

• He is pretending to sleep.
(সে ঘুমানোর ভান করছে।)

• She is pretending to study.
(সে পড়ার ভান করছে।)

• He is pretending to work.
(সে কাজ করার ভান করছে।)

• The child is pretending to cry.
(বাচ্চাটি কান্নার ভান করছে।)

• She pretended to be sick.
(সে অসুস্থ হওয়ার ভান করেছিল।)

প্রতিদিন ২০–৩০–৪০টা Vocabulary শিখছেন! কিন্তু পরের দিনই বেশিরভাগ শব্দ ভুলে যাচ্ছেন?

এটাই বাংলাদেশের 90% students-দের সবচেয়ে বড় সমস্যা।

সমস্যাটা Vocabulary-তে নয়, সমস্যাটা শেখার পদ্ধতিতে।

শুধু বাংলা অর্থ মুখস্থ করলে কোনো Word বেশিদিন মনে থাকে না। তাই Vocabulary এমনভাবে শিখতে হবে, যাতে শব্দটি শুধু মুখস্থ না হয়, বরং আপনার Active Vocabulary-এর অংশ হয়ে যায়।

যে কোনো নতুন Word শেখার সময় চেষ্টা করুন—

◆ বাংলা অর্থ জানুন।
◆ কয়েকটি Synonyms শিখুন।
◆ Word-এর Common Collocations শিখুন।
◆ এরপর সেই Word দিয়ে এমন একটি Sentence তৈরি করুন, যা আপনার নিজের জীবন, অভিজ্ঞতা বা বাস্তব পরিস্থিতির সঙ্গে সম্পর্কিত।

যখন একটি Word-এর সঙ্গে Meaning, Usage এবং আপনার নিজের Experience যুক্ত হয়ে যায়, তখন সেই Word সহজে ভুলে যাওয়ার সম্ভাবনা অনেক কমে যায়।

◆ বাংলা অর্থ:
কোনো লেখা, বই বা বক্তব্যকে মূল অর্থ ঠিক রেখে সংক্ষিপ্ত করা।

আপনি কি এখনও সব জায়গায় "Very" ব্যবহার করেন? 🤔
