Jude Costello, C.S.C Scintilla Science Club was established in 1957 by Bro. Gerald Kraeger C.S.C (Headmaster, 1963-1967). Since then Science Fair has been organized by St. Joseph higher Secondary School under the supervision of a teacher and active guidance of the Headmaster. William Sheehan C.S.C took care of the club and day by day it developed. Thomas More C.S.C. was the Headmaster, Mr. Moinuddin Ahmed was organizing the fair under the supervision of the Headmaster. Ralph Baird played a vital role towards the vast improvement of the club. Robert Hughes felt the necessity to prepare a constitution to run the club properly by the teachers and the students. The name “Scintilla Science Club” was given by him. During his time Mr. Sattar helped him in all possible ways to diversify the activities of the club. At that time inter-class quiz and art competition were introduced into the Science Fair. Since then the science fair took a festive mood and all the teachers were affiliated with it. After the sudden demise of Mr. Sattar former Principal Rev. John Rozario C.S.C bestowed the responsibility of Chief Moderator on Mr. Inspired by the Principal, under his supervision the souvenir of Scintilla Science Club was published in 1998 for the first time. Now this club has promoted its activities to quite a large extent. The club now organizes inter school and inter college Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology Olympiad, inter school and inter college set speech, inter school and college general knowledge quiz, intra school general knowledge quiz, project presentation, art fair, etc. during the annual science festival. Scintilla Science club is the first high school level science club in Bangladesh. It is the pioneer of high school level science community curriculum.
