The department offers the FIRST EVER Master of Public Health (MPH) in Occupational Health and Safety (OHS), Master of Public Health in Environmental Health and Safety, and Bachelor of Public Health (BPH) in Occupational & Environmental Health and Safety. Department of Occupational and Environmental Health (DOEH) of Bangladesh University of Health

Sciences (BUHS) is the second of its kind in Bangladesh. The mission of the Department of Occupational & Environmental Health is to produce manpower who will address occupational and environmental health issues with their skills and knowledge that are in demand in Bangladesh as well as in the current world situation. The department offers the related professional programmes for undergraduate students such as Bachelor of Public Health in Environmental Health & Safety and Occupational Health & Safety; and Master Programmes such as MPH in Environmental Health & Safety and Occupational Health & Safety. Both the graduate and master programmes of this department combine academic training, field activities and research to prepare the students to meet the demand in the job market as well as for their career success in a variety of occupations in industries, governmental organizations, NGOs and institutes as management, specialist, consultant and expert. Another mission of this department is to perform high level research work on occupational and environmental health problems and the effects of the population exposed to the chemical, physical, biological and other factors in the environment and in occupation. This department is dedicated to equip the professionals to make an impact on the health of the individuals, groups, or populations in workplace or in community. The devoted faculties of this department are committed to achieve their mission to improve occupational and environmental health and safety for present and future generations through teaching, training and research, and consultancy services. Our Journey Across the Padma: Learning Beyond the Classroom!🎓

We recently traded our textbooks for a field visit across the Padma Bridge. It was a perfect blend of high-tech engineering and traditional Bengal culture.

Quick Highlights:
Tech & Innovation: At the Janzira site, we met engineers using 3D satellite tech to protect the riverbanks. Seeing the scale of this project was truly inspiring! 💻

Safety First: We enjoyed fresh date juice in the village, learning how farmers use protective nets to keep it safe and hygienic (Nipah virus prevention). 🌴

Local Heritage: We explored the Padma Bridge Museum, discovering the local wildlife and the history of how this massive bridge was built. 🏛️

Community & Culture: From singing around a campfire in Shibchar to enjoying Hilsha fish at Mawa Ghat, we connected with the heart of rural Bengal. 🐟✨

This trip showed us how our studies in Occupational and Environmental Health can make a real difference in the world. A huge thank you to our professors for such an enriching experience!
