Ramisa Akhter was only eight years old.
A brilliant child whose home was filled with academic trophies, dreams, and the promise of a bright future. Today, those trophies stand as painful reminders of a life taken too soon.

The Department of Law, Green University of Bangladesh, expresses profound grief and solidarity with Ramisa’s family and condemns this horrific act in the strongest possible terms.

No child should ever face such brutality. Justice must not be delayed, influenced, or denied. We demand a fair, transparent, and speedy investigation and accountability for all those responsible.

May Ramisa’s memory strengthen our collective commitment to protect every child’s right to safety, dignity, and life.

It is with immense pride and profound satisfaction that the Department of Law, Green University of Bangladesh, announces the successful completion of the Felicitation Program for Advocates 2026, held on Saturday, 9 May 2026.
This program was held in honor of our accomplished graduates who have recently been enrolled as Advocates of the Lower Courts and the High Court Division of the Supreme Court of Bangladesh. Their achievement marks a momentous transition from the halls of legal academia to the chambers of active legal practice.

The program commenced with the recitation from the Holy Quran and the Gita, setting a tone of solemnity and spiritual reverence. This was followed by a specially curated video presentation that captured the academic journey of our graduates, milestones achieved by the Green University Law and Mooting Society and the growth of the Department of Law over the years.

The event was attended by a constellation of distinguished personalities from both the legal fraternity and the academic community. Prof. Dr. Mohammed Tareque Aziz, Dean, Faculty of Law, delivered the Opening Speech, welcoming all guests and setting the context for the occasion with clarity and eloquence.

We were profoundly honored by the presence and address of our Chief Guest, Barrister A. M. Mahbub Uddin Khokon , Member of Parliament; Chairman, Human Rights & Legal Aid Committee, Bangladesh Bar Council; and President, Supreme Court Bar Association. His address was a source of extraordinary inspiration for the newly enrolled advocates. Drawing from decades of distinguished legal practice and public service, he illuminated the values of integrity, diligence, and social responsibility that must guide every legal professional. His words of wisdom and encouragement resonated deeply with all in attendance and will undoubtedly serve as a guiding light for our graduates as they embark on their professional journeys.

The program was further enriched by the thoughtful and inspiring addresses of our honourable Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Mohammad Shorif Uddin, who graced the occasion as the Guest of Honour, honourable Pro Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Khawza Iftekhar Uddin Ahmed, honourable Treasurer Prof. Dr. Md. Fayzur Rahman, and honourable Registrar Captain (Navy) Shaikh Mohammad Salauddin.

In a deeply moving segment of the program, some of the enrolled advocates shared their personal reflections on their academic journey and the significance of their enrollment at the Bar. Their heartfelt words drew appreciation and applause from the audience and served as an eloquent reminder of the human story behind every legal qualification.

The program was especially distinguished by the invaluable address of our Honourable Chairperson, Dr. Md. Arifuzzaman. In his Vote of Thanks, Dr. Arifuzzaman articulated with great conviction the Department's philosophy of legal education, its aspirations for every graduate, and its vision of a legal profession. His words reflected the depth of his commitment to the students and to the discipline, and were received with great admiration by all present.

The highlight of the program was the formal felicitation ceremony, during which the distinguished guests personally presented crests and gifts to each of the enrolled advocates. This ceremony was a moment of celebration, recognition, and pride symbolizing the warmth and support with which the Department of Law sends its graduates forward into professional life.
