হাকিম চত্বর, ঢাকা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় A cherished character known as "Hakim Bhai" was popular among Dhaka University students in the decade of the 1980s and 1990s.

He was a simple, generous man who supplied tea at any moment of the day and night. His tea was a favorite with academics, poets, authors, journalists, and even performers after starting with Dhaka University students. Students would go to a spread of "Hakim Bhai's" tea that was direct across from Rokeya Hall, the main entrance to Dhaka University. A native of the Dohar neighborhood of Dhaka, Hakim Bhai started his tea stall at the university in the late 1970s. Hakim Bhai passed away unexpectedly on December 4, 2000. His tea stall gained immense popularity after the rise of the military government of Ershad. The fame spread to such an extent that even before Hakim Bhai's demise, the area around his tea stall was renowned as "Hakim Chattar". During the 90s, in the resistance against autocracy, "Hakim Chattar" became the most favored place for protesting students and cultural activists. It was the gathering point for students' rallies and demonstrations against autocracy, its agents, and the Jamaat-Shibir alliance.
