১৯৫২ সালের একুশে ফেব্রুয়ারী ‘বাংলাকে’ রাষ্ট্রভাষা করার দাবিতে সে সময়ের শাসকগোষ্ঠীর চোখ-রাঙ্গানি ও প্রশাসনের ১৪৪ ধারা উপেক্ষা করে স্বতঃস্ফূর্তভাবে রাজপথে নেমে আসে বাংলার ছাত্র ও যুবসমাজসহ সর্বস্তরের মানুষ, মায়ের ভাষা প্রতিষ্ঠার আন্দোলনে পাকিস্তানি শাসকদের গান কামানেরা সামনে নির্ভয়ে বুক পেতে দেওয়া সালাম, জব্বার, শফিক, বরকত ও রফিক সহ সকল ভাষা শহীদগনকে স্বশ্রদ্ধ সালাম।

আন্তর্জাতিক মাতৃভাষা দিবসে ঢাকা ইউনিভার্সিটি মডেল ও আই সি ক্লাব শ্রদ্ধার সাথে স্বরণ করছে ভাষা আন্দোলনে নিহত হওয়া সকল শহীদদের।

Dhaka University Model OIC Club in collaborating with GEIST International foundation, Aspire to Innovate (a2i) ict devision, and the U.S Department of States organized "Global Youth Assembly On Climate Action (GYACA) 2023 at the Muzaffar Ahmed Chowdhury Auditorium of the Social Science Building, University of Dhaka

GYACA hosted approximately 50 international delegates coming from 17 different countries. The program hosted two workshops facilitated by an international speakers panel which comprised of faculty members of different universities in India. Three formal sessions followed the workshops where the students were asked to discuss on the climate context of their respective countries to which they were designated to and the solutions which need to be made with regards to Action for Climate Empowerment (ACE). The final session was on the development of six different modus operandi on the six elements of ACE, as mandated by the UNFCCC.

The closing ceremony was presided by Mr. Partha Protim Nath, CFA, Consultant, Disaster Risk Management & Climate Change Unit, South Asia Region, the World Bank. The honorable guest provided constructive feedbacks on the modus operandi proposed by the delegates and also ended the session with a closing remark.

The program acknowledged the active participation of the vibrant delegates by awarding them with best delegate award, outstanding delegate award, special mention award, and honorable mention awards.

The Dhaka University Model OIC Club was delighted to co-organize this amazing engagement. This will guarantee fresh approaches to problem solving and keep our youth concerned in the environment and ongoing situation.

The primary objective of Global Youth Assembly on Climate Action is to develop climate awareness among the youths and provide them with a platform to showcase their knowledge and leadership skills at such a national level and be a part of policy development by representing a particular country. The particular faucet of climate change which will be the agenda of the Assembly is Action for Climate Empowerment (ACE). The youths will discuss on the six important elements of ACE and develop a charter individually on the six elements of ACE which will be adopted by all the representative countries based on their feasibility and capacity. This program also becomes a hub for developing 21st century skills for the youths of Bangladesh and gives them an opportunity to develop cross cultural competency and share knowledge with international participants. The charters developed by the youths will have an audience, who are important stakeholders dealing with climate related issues in Bangladesh from public and private sector.

Agenda of the Assembly

‘Adopting & Implementing Action for Climate Empowerment (ACE) as a global response to the Climate Change.’

The motions which will be set during the formal sessions have to be related to the following issues:

Initiatives already taken by the states towards ACE

Climate change education and public awareness

The participants will be empowered on climate change-its facts, impacts, adaptation, mitigation & different avenues of climate action

They will able to share, learn and exchange their knowledge in climate action and awareness.

Participants will become aware of climate awareness and become a flagbearer of sustainability.

Participants will develop climate competencies

Opportunity to collaborate and work with international students for a common good.

Developing competencies in devising feasible and sustainable charters and frameworks.

About 180 participants are expected to participate on the Assembly. 100 students of Bangladesh will be represented from the Dhaka and we are bringing 50 students from regional levels. We are expecting 30 participants from India, Nepal, Viet Nam, Turkey, and Greece.
