১৫ টাকার সবুজ এরোপ্লেন টেনিস বল এবং ৫ টাকার ওসাকা টেপ... এই একটা কম্বিনেশন'ই ডিফাইন করে দিতে পারে আমাদের পুরো কৈশোরটাকে... কখনো ইটের উপর ইট দিয়ে বানানো স্টাম্প, আবার কখনো স্কুল মাঠে ব্যাগের উপর ব্যাগ বসিয়ে হয়ে যেতো স্টাম্প।

বলে কারিকুরি করে টেপ প্যাঁচিয়ে বিট দেয়ার সময় নিজেকে মনে হতো সুইং জিনিয়াস ওয়াসিম আকরাম কিংবা গ্লেন ম্যাকগ্রা.. এই বিটের কাজ কতদূর কি ছিলো আমরা কেউই জানতাম না, তবুও বল ঘুরলে বা বোল্ড করে যে টেপ প্যাঁচিয়েছি তার ভাবের অন্ত থাকতো না... সবাই এসে বাহবা দিতো, সে তখন ক্লাউড নাইনে।
BDM, GM, CA স্টিকার লাগানো ব্যাটগুলো ছিলো ভালোবাসা... সারাজীবনের ফ্যান্টাসি একটা MRF স্টিকারের ব্যাট। যে ব্যাট দিয়ে তখন খেলছিলেন শচীন, লারা, স্টিভ ওয়াহ'রা।

গলির ক্রিকেটে দেয়ালে গড়িয়ে লাগলে ২ ডিক্লেয়ার, উড়ে দেয়ালের অন্যপাশে চলে গেলে আউট, তিনবার বল বডি টাচ হলে আউট... এইগুলো ছিলো কমন। লাস্ট বলে সিঙ্গেল নেয়ার কারণে কতো কতো ঝগড়া- হাতাহাতি হয়ে গেছে জীবন, তার কি কোন হিসাব আছে...?? বোল্ড হয়ে গেল বল জোরে হয়েছে বলে জোর করে নো বল কল দেয়া, ব্যাটিং দলের আম্পায়ারের রান চুরি.. এসব ছিলো আমাদের গলি ক্রিকেটের বাঁ-হাতের খেল।

কতো বল সানজিদা আপুদের ছাদে হারিয়ে গেলো, কতোবার সবাই ইদ্রিস ম্যানসনের দুই তলার জানালার গ্লাস ভেঙ্গে ব্যাট-বল তুলে পালিয়ে গেলো... তার কোন ইয়ত্তা নেই। সপ্তাহ দেড়েক পর সবাই সব ভুলে যেতো ঠিকই... আবার শুরু হতো গলির ক্রিকেট, আবার সবাই হাজির ঠিক বিকেল চারটায়, শুক্রবার সকাল দশটায়।

গলি, আবাসিক সব ঠিক আগের মতোই আছে... আজকাল গলিগুলোকে কেমন যেন ছোট মনে হয়৷ আমি বড় হতে হতে গলিগুলো কেমন যেন ছোট হয়ে গেছে... যেমনটা ছোট হয়ে গেছে জীবনের সুখ-আনন্দগুলোও।

বিকেল চারটার গলি এখন শুনশান নীরব... মাঝেমাঝে একা হেঁটে যাবার সময় ছোট্ট নিজেকে বল হাতে ছুটে যেতে দেখি... হঠাৎ সেই চিৎকার, উল্লাস ভেসে আসে। চোখ ঘুরিয়ে দেখি কোথাও কেউ নেই...!

হারিয়ে গেছে সব, আমার ছেলেবেলা... আমার গলি ক্রিকেট।

Bangladesh Bank Governor Ahsan H Mansur said the interim government plans to retain only two of the country’s nine state-owned banks and merge the rest as part of efforts to strengthen governance and address long-standing mismanagement in the banking sector.

Speaking at a discussion at Jagannath University on 21 January, he noted that Bangladesh currently has 61 banks - far more than the economy requires - and suggested that 10 to 15 banks would be sufficient. Reducing the number of institutions, he said, would make it easier to ensure proper oversight and accountability.

The country currently has six state-owned commercial banks - Agrani, Rupali, Sonali, Janata, BASIC, and Bangladesh Development Bank - along with three specialised banks: Bangladesh Krishi, Rajshahi Krishi Unnayan, and Probashi Kollyan.

Mansur alleged that weak governance, irregularities, and nepotism have severely undermined the sector, leading to losses of nearly Tk3 lakh crore, with an estimated $20–25 billion potentially siphoned off abroad. He stressed that urgent reforms are needed to keep personal or political interests from influencing banking decisions and to stabilise the financial system.
