The Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) at East West University has successfully completed a 60-hour intensive training program on ITEE FE (Fundamental Information Technology Engineer) exam preparation for selected final-year CSE students.
The training program was conducted by Prof. Dr. Shamim H Ripon and Prof. Dr. Md. Nawab Yousuf Ali, both certified Master Trainers of the ITEE program. A total of 20 selected final-year undergraduate students from the Department of CSE participated in this focused training initiative.
The program was funded by Bangladesh Computer Council (BCC) under the ICT Division of the Ministry of Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology, Government of Bangladesh.

On 15 April 2026, the Department of Law at East West University (EWU), in close collaboration with the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), organized a workshop titled โEducation for Justice: Trafficking in Persons (TIP) and Smuggling of Migrants (SOM)โ at the EWU campus. The programme was conducted under UNODCโs global Education for Justice (E4J) initiative and aimed at promoting rule of law education and youth engagement on critical justice issues.
The programme was inaugurated by Professor Dr. Mohammad Ashik Mosaddik, Pro-Vice Chancellor of EWU. Dr. Nabaat Tasnima Mahbub, Chairperson and Associate Professor of the Department of Law, delivered the welcome address, emphasizing the role of academic institutions in addressing transnational crimes through education, awareness, and critical engagement.

The Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) at East West University (EWU) hosted a seminar titled "AI and Cybersecurity in Industry: Why Advanced Skills Matter" on April 23, 2026, at the Manzur Elahi Auditorium. The inaugural session was attended by Professor Dr. Mohammed Farashuddin, Chairperson of the Board of Trustees at EWU; Professor Dr. Shams Rahman, Vice Chancellor; Professor Dr. Ahmed Wasif Reza, Dean of the Faculty of Sciences and Engineering; and Dr. Maheen Islam, Chairperson of the Department of CSE at EWU.
The seminar featured a panel of industry leaders, including Dr. Zunaid Kazi, Founder & CEO of Knowtomation; Mohammad Oli Ahad, Director & COO of ACI AI Business; Md. Showkat Ali, Head of Information Security at Grameenphone Ltd.; and Mohammad Shahadat Hossain, a cybersecurity professional at Grameenphone Ltd. The speakers emphasized the critical importance of advanced technical skills in addressing modern digital threats and leveraging the transformative potential of AI. They advised students to focus on building a strong foundational knowledge rather than simply learning specific tools. To this end, they suggested a master's course in โArtificial Intelligence and Machine Learningโ and โCyber Securityโ to equip the next generation of professionals with market-ready expertise. A participatory Q&A session was also held during the seminar, facilitated by Dr. Mohammad Rezwanul Huq, Associate Professor in the Department of CSE. A large number of students attended the seminar.

The East West University Center for Research and Training (EWUCRT) arranged a research seminar titled โNumerical Simulation of Targeted Pulmonary Drug Delivery in Patient-based Human Lung Model Under Physiological Conditions.โ The event was held at the EWUCRT Seminar Room on 22 April 2026. The research is the result of a joint effort by a team of scholars, including Dr. Md. Sahidul Islam, Assistant Professor, Department of Mathematical and Physical Sciences, East West University (EWU), Dr. Sarwar Jahan, Associate Professor, Department of Computer Science and Engineering, EWU, Dr. Kazi Ekramul Hoque, Associate Professor, Department of Arts and Sciences, Ahsanullah University of Science and Technology; and Dr. S M Afzal Hoq, Assistant Professor, Kulliyyah of Engineering, International Islamic University, Malaysia.
Dr. Md. Sahidul Islam and Dr. Kazi Ekramul Hoque presented the research proposal, detailing how numerical simulations can optimize the delivery of medication to targeted areas within a patientโs lung.

The SMC Plus EWU Winter Smash 2026, organized by the East West University Sports Club, stood as a remarkable celebration of inter-university sportsmanship, talent, and competitive excellence. Featuring participation from over 43 universities across the country, the tournament brought together some of the finest badminton players competing across multiple categories.
Among the standout performers was Hasibur Rahman, who holds the No. 7 national ranking in the Mixed Doubles category under the Bangladesh Badminton Federation (BBF). His presence significantly elevated the level of competition in the Faculty & Admin Doubles segment. Partnering with Dr. Md. Tauhid Bin Iqbal, Assistant Professor, Department of Computer Science and Engineering, he demonstrated exceptional skill, tactical awareness, and consistency throughout the tournament.

East West University (EWU) successfully conducted its admission test for the Summer Semester 2026 on April 18, 2025, at its permanent campus in Aftabnagar, Dhaka. The examination saw a significant turnout, with more than eight thousand applicants competing for seats across various undergraduate and graduate programs. To accommodate the high volume of candidates, the university utilized classrooms throughout the EWU Main Building, "Farashuddin Bhaban," and buildings AB-1, AB-2, and AB-3.
Demonstrating its commitment to hospitality, the university made extensive arrangements for the guardians of the applicants. Comfortable seating areas and light refreshments were provided on campus to ensure a smooth and welcoming environment for families during the examination hours.
The universityโs leadership was present at the campus entrance to personally welcome the aspiring students. Notable attendees included Professor Dr. Mohammed Farashuddin, Chairperson of the Board of Trustees; Professor Dr. Shams Rahman, Vice-Chancellor; Professor Dr. M. Ashik Mosaddik, Pro Vice-Chancellor; Air Commodore (retd) Ishfaq Ilahi Choudhury, Treasurer; and Dr. Anisur Rahman, Proctor. During the examination, the leadership team visited several halls to oversee the proceedings and expressed their high satisfaction with the disciplined and efficient ex*****on of the admission process.
The successful management of the large-scale event was attributed to the collective and dedicated efforts of the EWU Admission Committee, deans of various faculties, the registrar, faculty members, the proctorial team, and the universityโs administrative officials and staff.

The Department of Law, East West University successfully organized the 5th Intra Dept Moot Court Competition on 10โ11 April 2026. A total of thirty-nine teams from the Department of Law registered for the competition, among which twenty-seven teams actively participated in the two-day event. The competition was structured into four competitive rounds: Preliminary, Quarter-Final, Semi-Final, and Final.
The initial rounds were held on 10 April, and these rounds were adjudicated by seventeen former mooters and early-career legal professionals from reputed institutions. The semi-final and final rounds were held the next day, on 11 April followed by the prize-giving and closing ceremony. After the preliminary rounds, eight teams qualified for the quarter-final stage, from which four teams advanced to the semi-finals. Ultimately, two teams, Team T35 and Team T11 qualified for the final round. The final round of the Intra-Department Moot Court Competition was adjudicated by a distinguished bench comprising Dr. Md. Mahbubur Rahman, Professor, Department of Law, University of Dhaka; Barrister Rashna Imam, Senior Advocate, Supreme Court of Bangladesh; and Md. Monzur Rabbi, Advocate, Supreme Court of Bangladesh.

A memorial program was held in honor of the late Mr. Shafiqur Rahman, Assistant Professor and former Chairperson, Department of English, East West University, on Wednesday, April 15, 2026. The program began with a one-minute silence to pay tribute to the departed soul. East West University (EWU) celebrated the Bengali New Year, Pahela Baishakh 1433, with great enthusiasm and a wide array of colorful programs on its campus in Aftabnagar, Dhaka, on 14 April 2026. The day-long celebration featured a vibrant rally, cultural performances, and a traditional Baishakhi Mela.
The festivities began with a colorful rally organised by East West University Club for Performing Arts (ECPA). This was followed by a soulful performance of choral songs and a play at the university courtyard by the renowned cultural organization 'Chhayanaut.' The excitement escalated as the popular band 'Chirkutt' took the stage, performing several of their hit songs. In the afternoon, students from the ECPA showcased their talents through captivating dance and musical performances. The event ended with a powerful performance by the acclaimed band 'Meghdol,' which concluded the dayโs celebrations.
Throughout the day, a traditional 'Baishakhi Mela' was held on the university premises, featuring stalls with diverse ethnic food, traditional clothing, jewelry, and cosmetics, attracting a large crowd of visitors.
These events were graced by the presence of Professor Dr. Mohammed Farashuddin, Chairperson of the Board of Trustees, EWU; Professor Dr. Shams Rahman, Vice Chancellor; Professor Dr. Ashik Mosaddik, Pro-Vice Chancellor; Air Cdre (Retd.)
