Insight with Inspiration ✨

Today, the NYBB Student Chapter of Jagannath University successfully hosted a scientific talk titled "The mRNA Journey: From Lab to Life."

The event began with opening remarks from Professor Dr. Sumaiya Farah Khan, Chairman, Department of Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology, Jagannath University.

The guest speaker, Dr. Ariful Islam, Principal Scientist at the mRNA Center of Excellence, Sanofi, Boston, USA, delivered an insightful and inspiring session. He shared his professional journey from undergraduate studies to his current role at Sanofi, followed by an in-depth discussion of his work on mRNA vaccine development. He concluded the session with valuable guidance for students planning their careers in research and industry.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the faculty members for their guidance and support, and to the chapter members for their hard work and dedication in making this event possible.

NYBB Student Chapter Formed at Noakhali Science and Technology University (NSTU)

The installation ceremony of the newly formed Student Chapter of the Network of Young Biotechnologists of Bangladesh (NYBB) at Noakhali Science and Technology University (NSTU) was held on 11 August 2026.

Dr Abunasar Miah, Chairman of the Department of Biotechnology and Genetic Engineering, NSTU, inaugurated the event. Professor Adnan Mannan, Technical Director of NYBB, attended the programme and delivered a talk titled “Beyond the Genome: Genetic Screening for Early Diagnosis and Precision Medicine.” In his presentation, he highlighted the growing role of genetic screening in early disease detection and the development of precision medicine.

The newly formed NYBB Student Chapter committee comprises Kazi Jobayer Ahmed as Chair, Ankon Das and Irtifa Turin Ayshi as Co-chairs, and Saida Jahan Era as Treasurer.

The Executive Members are Mahmudur Rahman, Ripujoyee Das, Shamima Rahman Junaki, Orpita Nath, Shuvo Chakroborti, Effat Mayesha Ema, Sabrina Sneha, and Ananya Das.

Teachers and students of the faculty attended the programme. The formation of the NSTU chapter is expected to provide students with opportunities to engage in scientific activities, research, networking and professional development in biotechnology and related disciplines.

Workshop on Manuscript Writing & Ethical Use of AI | NYBB Chapter, Islamic University

On 10 August 2026, the NYBB Chapter of Islamic University organized a workshop titled “Basic Concepts of Manuscript Writing and Implementing AI Tools in Manuscript Writing Within Ethical Boundaries.” Around 100 participants joined the event, which was smoothly hosted by Sumona.

The session began with the recitation from the Holy Quran by Mahian and the Holy Geeta by Mithila. Following the recitations, a documentary highlighting the journey and vision of NYBB was screened. Afterward, Co-Chair Sabbir took the floor to share an overview of NYBB IU Chapter's ongoing initiatives and mission.

Prof. Dr. Md. Rezuanul Islam graced the occasion as the Chief Guest, delivering an inspiring address on scientific temperament, research culture, and academic integrity. From the central team, Murshida Khatun shared encouraging remarks on behalf of NYBB .

The event was further dignified by the presence of Prof. Dr. Sudhangshu, Prof. Dr. Faruki, Prof. Dr. Azad, and several other esteemed faculty members.

The technical learning sessions were conducted by Prof. Dr. Md. Abu Hena Mostofa Jamal and Prof. Dr. Habibur Rahman, who walked the participants through the fundamentals of scientific manuscript writing and the ethical integration of AI tools in research workflows.

An interactive quiz competition took place toward the end, with prizes awarded to the Champion and Runner-up.

The ceremony also marked a chapter transition: outgoing executive members were recognized with certificates of appreciation for their dedication, while the newly selected committee members were officially welcomed and handed their appointment letters.

The day concluded with a memorable group photo session, marking another meaningful step forward for the young researchers of Islamic University.

🎉 Successfully concluded!

On 8th August, we wrapped up the Inquest-NYBB Metagenomics Training in Dhaka. Participants got hands‑on experience with the full metagenomics pipeline—from QC and host decontamination to taxonomic profiling, assembly, MAG binning, quality assessment, and functional annotation.
