Solas: No. People got chance in regular MBA at the age of 38 years.

Q. Do only students from reputed institutions get chance in IBA? How about the students from National University or Private Universities?
Solas: No specific rules or pattern. Each year, some students from National University, Private Universities get chance in IBA MBA. IBA looks for competent students. IBA is extremely fair. No nepotism. That's why its legacy is still maintained. IBA is No.1 as it behaves like No.1--That's it ! Your performance will take you IN but not your identity.

Q. Frequency of admission tests?
Solas: Twice a year. June or July and Nov or Dec each year.

Q. How many seats?
Solas: About 60 seats in June Session, about 120 seats in December Session.

Q. How many students sit for the admission test and how many are selected in written test?
Solas: About 3,500 students sit for the written test. About 120 students are selected in written test of June Session, 120(Full Time)+120(Part Time) students are selected in the written test of December Session.

Q. Full time and part time options?
Solas: June session is for full time(day classes). December session has both full time(day classes) and part time classes(evening classes).

Q. Can a day batch switch to evening batch?
Solas: Yes, after doing one semester with CGPA of at least 2.5.

Q. Any difference in value between part time and full time MBA?
Solas: No. But if you wish to join IBA as a teacher, you need to complete only Full Time MBA. There are few issues regarding award, gold medal, etc. Please ask MBA office for details.

Q. Is there any fear of drop out?
Solas: Yes. If you fail in same subject twice or unable to maintain CGPA of at least 2.5 in two consecutive semesters, you are out from IBA.

Q. What is the difference between Drop Out and Withdrawal?
Solas: For IBA, Drop Out should mean that you are permanently out from MBA Program. Withdrawal means that you apply for a semester break for some reason, and once approved by MBA Chairperson, you're allowed to do the remaining semesters in due course.

Q. Maximum period of completion of MBA?
Solas: Maximum 8 academic years. But usually, you can't take withdrawal more than once.

Q.Fees for Full Time/Part Time MBA?
Solas: About 50K for Full Time MBA, and 100K for Part Time MBA.

Q.Written Test Structure?
Solas: Two Sections - Objective and Written. Objective 75 Marks. Written 25 Marks.

Q. Marks distribution in both Sections?
Solas: Objective: Maths 30, English 30, Analytical Ability 15. Written: 25 Marks.

Q. Question Types?
Solas: Please see the pass year questions.

Q. Pass Mark?
Solas: No specific pass mark. But if you can score at least 60% in each of Math(18), English(18), Analytical(9), and Written(15), you stand a chance. 60% in each section results in 45 in Objective Part and 15 in Written Part.

Q. Is it possible to know the pass marks in last years' admission tests?
Solas: No. But one can guess after doing some analysis.

Q.Duration of the Admission Test?
Solas: 90 Minutes for Objective Part, and 30 Minutes for Written Part.

Q. Any negative marking?
Solas: Yes. 0.25 for each wrong answer.

Q. Are both Objective and Written Parts checked for all students?
Solas: Let me start the answer saying that the following answer to this question is not verified by any authentic source. It is assumed that Objective Part is checked first. Perhaps few hundred students are selected from objective part, and then the written part of only those students are checked. So, even if your written test was just excellent but you are out during scrutiny of objective part, you're in fact out of the competition.

Q. Any tips on exam approach?
Solas: Get good sleep at least two days before the exam. It's wise to close your books two days before exam. It'll make you relax, and your brain is likely to play cool during the exam.
Try to correct 60% on each section first. If this is done, you may try to increase your score on the remaining part of all sections.
It's a poor idea to try and score almost 100% in your favorite section. This will lead to scoring less than 60% in other sections. Usually, 40-45 Minutes for Maths, 20 Minutes for English, and 25-30 Minutes for Analytical could be a rough time-plan. It'll depend on the difficulty level of questions.
Always try to answer the easy questions first. Remember, each question carries equal mark.

Q. What books are required for the test preparations?
Solas: You should first have a good look on the pass years' questions to get an idea about questions patterns. That's the key. There are many books in the market for test preparations. Admission Guides, and books on GMAT, GRE, SAT, TOEFL, etc. If you want to cover all these books, it would be a very difficult and unrealistic job. Please meet us for further details.

Q. Are pass years' questions available?
Solas: Yes, you can find Question Banks in Neelkhet, Dhaka.

Q. How should I prepare for the exam?
Solas: Know the question pattern. Improve your basics. Giving Frequent Tests is the key.
