Shortly after the formation of Pakistan, the then Archbishop of Dhaka, His Grace Lawrence L Graner CSC, invited the Priest Society of the Congregation of Holy Cross to establish a college in Dhaka. Accordingly the priests assigned to this task obtained permission from the Religious Brothers of Holy Cross and in November 1949 started a college on the campus of St. Gregory College. Though the initial institution was humble, the aim was lofty: to spread the light of education in the eastern part of the newly born country, Pakistan. Since its inception, the college has been administered by the priests of the Congregation of Holy Cross. In 1955 the college was relocated to its present site in the Motijheel area of Dhaka and renamed “Notre Dame College”. Even though it is a Degree College, most students study in the intermediate level for two years (classes XI and XII), taking classes in Science, Business Studies or Arts. In the three-year Degree program classes are offered leading to a Bachelor Degree of Arts (B.A. Pass Course) or a Bachelor of Social Sciences (B.S.S. Pass Course). Besides the regular academic courses in the Intermediate and Degree levels, an English Program (English as a Foreign Language) is conducted almost all year round and is open to all. As an expression of social concern, the College conducts Literacy classes (I to VIII) for slum children, in three shifts, morning, afternoon and evening. About 1150 students attend the Literacy School.

হাইকোর্ট বিভাগে দায়েরকৃত রিট পিটিশনের প্রেক্ষিতে নটর ডেম কলেজকে আদালত ২০১৬-১৭ শিক্ষাবর্ষে কলেজের নিজস্ব প্রক্রিয়ায় ভর্তি গ্রহনের জন্যে সদয় অনুমতি প্রদান করেছেন।
ফর্ম কলেজে এসে তুলতে হবে।
২৫ তারিখ, বুধবার- শুধু বিজ্ঞান বিভাগ (সকাল ৯টা- বিকাল ৫টা)
২৬ তারিখ, বৃহস্পতিবার- সকল বিভাগ (দুপুর ২টা- বিকাল ৫টা)
২৮ তারিখ, শনিবার- সকল বিভাগ (সকাল ৯টা- ৫টা)
১জুন- প্রাথমিক ফল প্রকাশ (এরা লিখিত পরীক্ষা দেয়ার সুযোগ পাবে)
লিখিত পরীক্ষা- ৩ ও ৪ জুন
বিজ্ঞান বিভাগে উচ্চতর গণিতে অবশ্যই এ+ সহ জিপিএ ৫ থাকতে হবে ফর্ম তুলতে হলে।
ব্যবসায় শিক্ষা- ন্যূনতম জিপিএ-৪
মানবিক- ন্যূনতম জিপিএ- ৩.৫

বিজ্ঞান বিভাগের মোট আসন- ২০০০ (বাংলা ভার্সন- ১৭২০ এবং ইংরেজি ভার্সন- ২৮০)

ব্যবসায় শিক্ষা বিভাগের মোট আসন- ৭০০

মানবিক বিভাগের মোট আসন- ৪০০
