Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB) has emerged as Bangladeshโs top-ranked private university in the latest Nature Index institutional rankings, placing 5th overall among Bangladeshi institutions and 3rd among universities nationwide, according to this globally recognized research benchmarking platform. The ranking also placed IUB at the top in Bangladesh in the Physical Sciences category, reflecting the universityโs growing research visibility in high-quality scientific publications.
The Nature Index tracks research output published in a selected group of leading international journals in the natural and health sciences. The index is developed by Nature Research Intelligence, part of Springer Nature, the global publishing group behind the internationally renowned scientific journal Nature. The current rankings are based on research outputs published during the 12-month period from February 1, 2025 to January 31, 2026. IUB recorded a Nature Index Share of 0.63 from 4 indexed research articles.

The Independent University, Bangladesh library organized a Library Orientation Program for the freshers admitted to the Summer 2026 semester at IUB from 17 May to 21 May 2026. A total of 570 students participated in different slots.

Library Orientation Program for Freshers
The IUB Library will arrange a Library Orientation Program for freshers from 17 May to 21 May 2026.
All newly admitted students (Summer 2026) are requested to attend any one session of the orientation program. Students must complete the registration form by scanning the QR code provided in the notice.
The orientation program will help students become familiar with:
Library facilities and services
Membership and borrowing procedures
Online resources and databases
Library rules and regulations
Digital library services and research support
Attendance in one session is mandatory for all freshers.

The IUB Library successfully organized an online awareness and training session for ๐๐๐๐ฎ๐ฅ๐ญ๐ฒ ๐ฆ๐๐ฆ๐๐๐ซ๐ฌ, ๐ซ๐๐ฌ๐๐๐ซ๐๐ก๐๐ซ๐ฌ, ๐๐ง๐ ๐ฌ๐ญ๐ฎ๐๐๐ง๐ญ๐ฌ
in collaboration with EBSCO ๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐ง๐๐จ๐ซ๐ฆ๐๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง ๐๐๐ซ๐ฏ๐ข๐๐๐ฌ.
The session was conducted by Raj Kumar Mahapatra, Training Manager, EBSCO (India โ East).
He highlighted effective use of ๐๐๐ฆ๐๐ข ๐ฑ๐ฎ๐๐ฎ๐ฏ๐ฎ๐๐ฒ๐ and eBooks, the new interactive user interface, AI-powered features, advanced search techniques, research tools, offโcampus access, and the EBSCO Mobile App.
The session was highly interactive and well-received, helping participants enhance their research efficiency and academic productivity.
