Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB) has emerged as Bangladesh’s top-ranked private university in the latest Nature Index institutional rankings, placing 5th overall among Bangladeshi institutions and 3rd among universities nationwide, according to this globally recognized research benchmarking platform. The ranking also placed IUB at the top in Bangladesh in the Physical Sciences category, reflecting the university’s growing research visibility in high-quality scientific publications.

The Nature Index tracks research output published in a selected group of leading international journals in the natural and health sciences. The index is developed by Nature Research Intelligence, part of Springer Nature, the global publishing group behind the internationally renowned scientific journal Nature. The current rankings are based on research outputs published during the 12-month period from February 1, 2025 to January 31, 2026. IUB recorded a Nature Index Share of 0.63 from 4 indexed research articles.

The Independent University, Bangladesh library organized a Library Orientation Program for the freshers admitted to the Summer 2026 semester at IUB from 17 May to 21 May 2026. A total of 570 students participated in different slots.

We are proud to see our Head of Library, Md. Shahajada Masud Anowarul Haque, featured by Research4Life during its 25 Years celebration campaign.

Access to scholarly literature empowers researchers to contribute meaningfully to global research and knowledge creation. This recognition highlights the important role of equitable access to information in advancing research and innovation.

Library Orientation Program for Freshers

The IUB Library will arrange a Library Orientation Program for freshers from 17 May to 21 May 2026.

All newly admitted students (Summer 2026) are requested to attend any one session of the orientation program. Students must complete the registration form by scanning the QR code provided in the notice.

The orientation program will help students become familiar with:

Library facilities and services
Membership and borrowing procedures
Online resources and databases
Library rules and regulations
Digital library services and research support

Attendance in one session is mandatory for all freshers.

The IUB Library successfully organized an online awareness and training session for 𝐟𝐚𝐜𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐲 𝐦𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫𝐬, 𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐬, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐬𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬
in collaboration with EBSCO 𝐄𝐁𝐒𝐂𝐎 𝐈𝐧𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐒𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐢𝐜𝐞𝐬.

The session was conducted by Raj Kumar Mahapatra, Training Manager, EBSCO (India – East).

He highlighted effective use of 𝗘𝗕𝗦𝗖𝗢 𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗮𝗯𝗮𝘀𝗲𝘀 and eBooks, the new interactive user interface, AI-powered features, advanced search techniques, research tools, off‑campus access, and the EBSCO Mobile App.

The session was highly interactive and well-received, helping participants enhance their research efficiency and academic productivity.
