Field Study on Environmental Management Plan (ENV-4204), Sreemangal
Students of BES-2022 (Session 2021–2022), Department of Environmental Science, BUP, completed a six-day field study in Sreemangal (April 25–30, 2026) under the guidance of Lt. Col. Md. Rokonujaman Khan, PhD, AEC. The program was coordinated by Assistant Professor Arifur Rahman, Assistant Professor Md. Golam Muktadir, Lecturer Hosney Jahan Sraboni, and Lecturer Sifat Aysha.
The field visits began at Pioneer Denim Ltd., where students gained hands-on insight into industrial operations and environmental management by exploring key departments and evaluating the Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP) to understand wastewater treatment and regulatory compliance. The journey then continued to Lawachara National Park, where students experienced the complexity of natural ecosystems and observed how human activities such as tourism and settlements are influencing biodiversity and habitat integrity, inspiring them to think of sustainable solutions. Finally, at the Bangladesh Tea Research Institute (BTRI), students explored tea cultivation, processing techniques, and research innovations, while also gaining an understanding of the growing competition between industrial sectors and the tea industry for resources and labor.

The field study concluded with a poster presentation session, where students presented case-based solutions derived from their field observations. This was followed by a viva and written examination to assess their understanding and analytical capabilities. As this field study marked the final semester activity for BES-2022 students, it played a crucial role in bridging academic knowledge with real-world applications.
