Akheri Chahar Shomba: A Day of Reflection, Love and Learning.
Akheri Chahar Shomba is a well-known day in Muslim society, observed on the last Wednesday of the Islamic month of Safar. The word βAkheriβ means βlast,β while βChahar Shombaβ means βWednesday.β
This day is traditionally associated with events from the final days of the life of our beloved Prophet Muhammad ο·Ί. For many Muslims, it is an opportunity to remember the life, character and teachings of the Prophet ο·Ί and to strengthen our love for him and commitment to following his Sunnah.
It is important, however, to remember that acts of worship should be based on the guidance of the Qurβan and authentic Sunnah. We can use this occasion to engage in general acts of worship such as making dua, reciting the Qurβan, sending Salawat upon the Prophet ο·Ί, and reflecting on his noble character and teachings.
A Lesson for Our Students
The life of Prophet Muhammad ο·Ί is the greatest example of excellent character. His teachings inspire us to be truthful, kind, patient, forgiving, trustworthy and compassionate towards others.
Let us take this occasion not merely as a historical remembrance, but as an opportunity to renew our commitment to the Sunnah of our beloved Prophet ο·Ί and bring his noble teachings into our daily lives.
