রাসূলুল্লাহ (সাঃ) বলেছেন, আমি আল্লাহ তা’আলার নিকট তিনটি বস্তুর আবেদন করেছিলাম। অতঃপর তিনি আমাকে দুইটি দান করেন এবং একটি নিষেধ করেন। আমি বললাম, হে আল্লাহ! আমার উম্মতকে ক্ষুধার দ্বারা ধ্বংস করিও না। আল্লাহ বলিলেন, ঠিক আছে। আমি বললাম, তাহাদের উপর তাহাদের কোন শত্রুকে অর্থাৎ মুশরিকদেরকে কর্তৃত্ব ও ক্ষমতা দান করিও না। তাহা হলে তারা ইহাদের মূলোৎপাটন করবে। আল্লাহ বলিলেন, তোমাদের জন্যে ইহাও মণ্জ্ঞুর। আমি বললাম, হে আল্লাহ! তাহাদের পরস্পরের মধ্যে শক্তির প্রতিযোগীতা সৃষ্টি করিও না। তখন আল্লাহ আমাকে ইহা বলিতে নিষেধ করেন।

Shaikh Muhammad Ilyaas RA used to say:

"The object behind the Effort of Da'wat and Tabligh is to create hunger and thirst in people to obey the commands of Allah Ta'ala. The bodily feeling of hunger and thirst is natural in a human being and it occurs without any effort. However, in order for the spiritual hunger and thirst to come alive, sacrifice will have to be given..."
