The closing ceremony of the 2026 World Friends Korea (WFK) IT Online Training Program was held on Monday August 3,2026 at the Conference Room of the University of Information Technology and Sciences (UITS), marking the successful completion of a three-week international online training and project-based learning program. The program was organized by the Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of UITS in collaboration with the World Friends Korea (WFK) Program, supported by the National Information Society Agency (NIA), South Korea. The training was conducted by a student volunteer team from the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST), Daejeon, South Korea, from July 13 to August 3, 2026. Professor Dr. Md. Abu Hashan Bhuiyan, Vice-Chancellor of UITS, attended the closing ceremony as the Chief Guest, while Professor Dr. Siraj Uddin Ahmed, Treasurer of UITS, was present as the Special Guest. Engineer Md. Safaet Hossain, Director of IQAC, UITS, moderated the ceremony. Mohammad Kamrul Hasan, Registrar of UITS, and Mr. Al-Imtiaz, Associate Professor and Head of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE), also attended the event.

A total of 72 UITS students in two batches participated in the program. During the three-week training, the participants received practical and hands-on instruction in Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML), Python Programming, Vibe Coding, modern AI-assisted software development, and emerging digital technologies. As part of the program, students were divided into groups and assigned to develop technology-based projects applying the knowledge and skills acquired during the training. Following the completion of the projects, the submissions were evaluated by a panel of KAIST student volunteers. The participating teams were nominated for four award categories: Grand Prize, Excellence Award, Merit Award, and Neobjuk Award, in recognition of their project quality, innovation, creativity, technical implementation, and overall performance.Upon successful completion of the program, all 72 participating students received certificates. The project-based component of the training provided students with an opportunity to apply emerging technologies to practical challenges while developing teamwork, problem-solving, creativity, and AI-related technical competencies. The KAIST volunteer team comprised Jinhwa Kim from Bio & Brain Engineering; Hyunji Huh from Industrial Design and the School of Computing; Heesang Shin from Material Science Engineering and Mechanical Engineering; and Michae Jung from Electrical Engineering.

Speaking on the occasion, the university authorities highlighted the importance of international academic collaboration and technology-focused training in preparing students for the demands of the rapidly evolving global digital economy. The program also contributed to strengthening academic and knowledge-sharing links between UITS and KAIST and provided UITS students with direct exposure to an international learning environment. The successful completion of the WFK IT Online Training Program demonstrates UITS's continued efforts to expand international academic partnerships and provide students with opportunities to develop advanced digital skills, innovation capabilities, and future-ready competencies.UITS expressed its appreciation to the World Friends Korea Program, the National Information Society Agency, KAIST, the KAIST student volunteer team, trainers, organizers, faculty members, and participating students for their contributions to the successful implementation of the program.
