Former Adjunct Professor Lt Col Md Shahadat Hossain, psc (Retd), MBA, MDS, Graduate in Chinese Language from Beijing Language and Culture University; Former Adjunct Professor at Bangladesh Maritime University; Author of Basic Chinese Language textbooks; Founder and General Secretary of We Speak Chinese Club Bangladesh Limited (WSCC); Recipient of the China-Bangladesh Friendship Award 2023; and an experienced Consultant, Coordinator, Contributor, and Promoter of China-Bangladesh relations and Chinese language education.

Learning Recommendation for Chinese Beginners:
I highly recommend all new Chinese learners to watch the classic children’s science fiction movie "Pi Li Bei Bei" released in 1988. The language used in this film is clear, simple, and easy to follow, which makes it an excellent resource for improving listening skills.
When I first went to China to study Chinese at Beijing Language and Culture University in 1988, this was one of the first movies I used for practice. Watching it repeatedly helped me train my ears to the sounds of Chinese, and even today I still revisit it for practice.
My advice: don’t worry if you don’t understand anything in the beginning. Keep watching regularly. Try focusing on small sections, listen carefully, and repeat them a few times. With patience and consistency, you will gradually understand more and more.
This simple but effective habit will strengthen your listening and make your Chinese learning journey much easier.
