We are thrilled to announce that Md. Salah Uddin, an alumnus of the Department of Architecture at the State University of Bangladesh, has been declared as โWinnerโ in category A of the DOT Student Design Award for his final year thesis project, "A Platform to Celebrate Music: Band Music Institute, Kanchan, Dhaka." His exceptional work was guided by Dr. Sazid Bin Doza, Professor, DoA, and Ar. Mohammad Hamidur Rahman Sabbir, Assistant Professor, DoA.
The Main objective of the competition organizer, DOT-the pioneer and only Architectural Journal of Bangladesh, edited by Ar. Mustapha Khalid Palash is to encourage the students in the sphere of design and to promote cross communications between the schools.
We extend our heartfelt congratulations to him and wish him continued success in all his future endeavors.

The Department of Architecture at State University of Bangladesh is excited to share the successful completion of our Fall 2023 final-year thesis jury, held on April 16th and 17th, 2024.
Held at the SUB Permanent Campus, students showcased a diverse range of innovative projects. Distinguished jurors like Prof. Shamsul Wares, Ar. Afroza Ahmed, Ar. Shameem Aminur Rahman, Architect Nabi Newaz Khan, and Ar. Khurshid Almehar graced the event and provided the students with valuable feedback.
Special thanks to Dr. Sajid bin Doza and Tanmoy Dey, the dedicated studio mentors who guided our students throughout their journey.

With heavy hearts, we share the somber news that our bright student, Kadar Sarkar, passed away today, bravely battling a stroke. It was in the middle of the day on the 8th of January, 2024. Kadar, a second-year student in our Department of Architecture, left us too soon. The memory of his smiling face during the last lap of examinations lingers in our minds.
Our deepest condolences go out to Kadar's family. The pain is unbearable, and we empathize with the profound sorrow they must be feeling. Kadar, we will miss your lively presence and your warm, infectious smile. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.
May Allah grant Kadar's departed soul the highest level of Jannat. In this difficult time, may the family find strength and solace.

Department of Architecture, State University of Bangladesh organized a study visit exclusively for its 4th & 5th year students and faculty members to the National Parliament Building on 6th November, 2023.
Ar. Prof. Shamsul Wares, Advisor, DoA explained different design and structural aspects to the students of the magnum opus of famous Architect Louis I Kahn. Before that, Head of the Dept. Prof. Dr. Sajid Bin Doza welcomed the students in his brief speech.
DoA, SUB organizes study tours on a regular basis to renowned architectural projects in order to create links between academia and profession for students. DoA expresses special gratitude to SUB authority and Head of the Department, Ar. Bayejid Mahabub Khondker and Parliament Building Visit Authority for their heartfelt cooperation.

On the second day of the trip, the students visited Ancient Gaur at Chapai Nawabgonj, Mughal Mosques and Hindu Temples at Puthia, Rajshahi. Under the expert guidance of their course teacher, Ar. Dr. Sajid Bin Doza the participants gained insights into the socio-political motivations that reflect on Bengal's architectural wonders.
This experience allowed them to establish a connection between the historical background of Bangladesh and their future architectural design solutions. The tour instilled a sense of responsibility among the students to further research and preserve the cultural heritage of Bengal, recognizing its significance for society and the nation.

In a remarkable exploration of the rich heritage of Bengal's art and architecture, students of the ARC 332: History of Bengal Art and Architecture course of Fall โ23 semester at the State University of Bangladesh recently embarked on a Heritage tour led by Course teacher Ar. Sajid Bin Doza. Organized by the Department of Architecture, the field visit took place from the 19th to the 21st of October, 2023.
During this two-day immersive journey, students had the unique opportunity to explore a series of historically significant sites. The first day of the tour featured Mahasthan, Paharpur at Bogra, Kusumba Mosque at Naogaon.
The field visit was more than just an educational excursion; it provided students with a profound orientation in Bengal's art and architecture. During the tour, students were encouraged to reevaluate historical case studies through direct observations. This hands-on approach enhanced their comprehension of contextual phenomena, climatic interpretation, and topographical considerations in the realm of architecture.

Rayhanul Islam, a final year student of Department of Architecture, State University of Bangladesh has been declared as "Winner" in category B of DOT STUDENT DESIGN COMPETITION for his academic project of level-5, Term-1 named โDesign of a Non-Residential Mixed-use developmentโ. His studio mentor was Ar. Tania Taher Lata, Associate Professor, DoA and Ar. Bayejid Mahbub Khondker, Principal Architect at Nakshabid Architects.
