A merchant received twenty-four gold coins every morning. The only rule was that unspent coins vanished at midnight. The merchant wasted hours buying worthless trinkets and gossiping. At night, the remaining coins melted into thin air. The merchant died poor, realizing too late that those coins were hours.

Today, I had a delightful dinner at Teriyaki Boy in Banani. After enjoying a fantastic meal, I had the pleasure of meeting the chef. His name is now Mohammad Rayaan, previously Brayaan, as he embraced Islam and has been living and working in Bangladesh for nearly two years. His story is truly inspiring. Originally from the Philippines, he married a Bangladeshi woman and is enjoying a wonderful marital life here. Life truly is beautiful in the way it unfolds and continues on...

A young woman complained to her father about her life. She was exhausted, overwhelmed, and ready to give up because it seemed that every time one problem was solved, a new one immediately took its place.
Her father, a chef, led her to the kitchen. He filled three pots with water and placed them on a high fire. Once the water reached a rolling boil, he placed potatoes in the first pot, eggs in the second, and ground coffee beans in the third.
He let them boil without saying a word. After twenty minutes, he turned off the burners. He fished out the potatoes and placed them in a bowl.
He did the same with the eggs, placing them in a second bowl. Finally, he ladled the rich, aromatic coffee into a cup and turned to his daughter."What do you see?" he asked."

Potatoes, eggs, and coffee," she replied.

He told her to feel the potatoes. She did and noted that they were soft. He asked her to peel an egg, and she observed that the once-liquid inside had hardened.
Finally, she took a sip of the coffee and smiled at its rich aroma and flavor."What does this mean?" she asked.

The father explained that all three items faced the exact same adversity—boiling water. Yet, each reacted differently:The potato went in strong, hard, and unyielding, but in the boiling water, it became soft and weak. The egg went in fragile with a thin outer shell protecting a liquid interior, but the heat made the inside hard and tough.
The coffee beans, however, were unique. In the boiling water, they didn't change the water; they transformed the water itself, creating something new and positive.
The Takeaway :
When adversity knocks on your door, how do you respond? Are you the potato that loses strength under pressure, the egg that hardens and shuts off emotionally, or the coffee bean? Choose to be the coffee bean. When times get tough, allow the struggle to transform your situation into something positive and powerful.

-The Marble Sanctuary & a cup of americano'

The condensation on my cup of Americano mirrored the humid evening outside the cafe window. Across from me, the leather armchair stood empty, its worn brown surface gleaming under the warm interior lights. It felt like a silent companion to my solitude.
I turned a page of Ryan Holiday’s Discipline is Destiny, the weight of the book grounding me. Around me, the low hum of distant conversations and the occasional hiss of the espresso machine created a steady, rhythmic white noise. My legs were stretched out, ankles crossed, as I claimed this small marble circle as my sanctuary for the hour.
Every sip of the bitter coffee felt like a reset button. In the stillness, the book's message about self-mastery didn’t just feel like words on a page; it felt like a blueprint for the person I wanted to become once I stepped back out into the neon-streaked night. For now, the world was just the steam from my cup, the Monstera leaves in the corner, and the quiet promise of a better version of myself.
