The training workshop โData Analysis for Managing Climate Risk and Adaptationโ co-hosted by BUET-JIDPUS and University of Texas at Arlington, in partnership with the United Nations University Institute for Water, Environment and Health was successfully organized on Monday, January 12, 2026 at JIDPUS premises. The workshop fostered a dynamic learning environment, bringing together 39 distinguished participants from a diverse spectrum of over 20 national and international organizations. The key resource person for the workshop was Dr. Adnan Rajib, Assistant Professor of Civil Engineering and the Director of Hydrology & Hydroinformatics Innovation (H2I) Lab at the University of Texas at Arlington, United States. In addition, Dr. Tanvir Manzur, Director of BUET-JIDPUS, conducted a session. The workshop culminated in a Certificate Awarding Ceremony, graced by Professor Dr. Abdul Hasib Chowdhury, Pro-Vice Chancellor of BUET, as the Chief Guest. Professor Dr. Ishtiaque Ahmed, Head of the Department of Civil Engineering at BUET, and Professor Dr. Md. Mujibur Rahman from United International University attended as Special Guests. The workshop was presided over by Professor Dr. Tanvir Manzur, Director of BUET-JIDPUS.

The National Workshop on the iCARE Innovation Fund, supported by the World Bank and implemented by the Asian Disaster Preparedness Center (ADPC), was held on December 2, 2024. This remarkable event brought together experts and stakeholders to discuss the Effectiveness, Sustainability, and Scalability of Innovations aimed at enhancing climate resilience in Bangladesh.
Prof. Dr. Tanvir Manzur, Director of BUET-Japan Institute of Disaster Prevention and Urban Safety (BUET-JIDPUS), attended the workshop as a distinguished panelist. His invaluable insights on sustainable innovation and disaster prevention highlighted the critical role of collaboration in addressing climate challenges.

Professor Dr. Tanvir Manzur has been appointed as the new director of the BUET-Japan Institute of Disaster Prevention and Urban Safety (BUET-JIDPUS). He is one of the renowned professors in the Department of Civil Engineering at BUET, where he has been playing a key role in advancing academic excellence and research initiatives. He has significant expertise in fostering collaborations among academia, government, and international organizations to address pressing challenges in structural safety and resilience.
Dr. Tanvir Manzur succeeds Professor Dr. A. F. M. Saiful Amin, who led BUET-JIDPUS from September 2020 to October 2024. The handover ceremony was held on November 6, 2024.
