Sheikh Hafizur Rahman Karzon, Director at the Centre for Genocide Studies, University of Dhaka (CGS), is a professor of law at Dhaka University (DU). He has been teaching criminology for more than two decades and his academic pursuits encompass a diverse range of subjects, such as juvenile delinquency, the societal transformations of Bangladesh, as well as constitutional and environmental law.

The Centre for Genocide Studies feels privileged to have the honourable Minister Dr. Hasan Mahmud, MP, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, as its Chief Guest.
He has previously served as the honourable Minister, Ministry of Environment and Forest, Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh; and is also a former State Minister, Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Among numerous accolades, Dr. Hasan Mahmud is also an academic and a well known environmentalist both home and abroad. He was awarded with the "Certificate of Honorable Mention" by Green Cross International for his strong role in global climate change.

We are delighted to inform you all that the upcoming seminar on "Genocide and Justice: Bangladesh's response to Rohingya crisis" organised by Centre for Genocide Studies (CGS), University of Dhaka will be inaugurated by the Honourable Vice-Chancellor of the University of Dhaka, Professor Dr. Md. Akhtaruzzaman. Throughout his long research and academic career he has worked on issues relating to minority studies, history of Myanmar (Burma) and the origin and development of the Rakhine community, British Muslim communities, etc.

The Centre for Genocide Studies (CGS) is honored to have Dr. Kamal Uddin Ahmed, Honorable Chairman, National Human Rights Commission of Bangladesh, as the Special Guest at the upcoming seminar on 'Genocide and Justice: Bangladesh's Response to the Rohingya Crisis'. As a career bureaucrat, he has contributed to various organs of the government in different capacities including successful negotiation and ratification of international agreements. He brings forth immense experiences in the field of human trafficking, drug trafficking, money laundering etc. from the lens of governance and law enforcement.

It is a great privilege for the Centre for Genocide (CGS) studies to have Dr. Zia Rahman, Honourable Dean, Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Dhaka, as a discussant at the upcoming seminar on "Genocide and Justice: Bangladesh's Response to the Rohingya Crisis". Dr. Zia is also the founder Chairperson of the Department of Criminology, University of Dhaka.
He is the first Bangladeshi elected member of the Board of Directors of the International Society of Criminology (ISC) for the next five years (2019-24). He has numerous international research and publications on labour issues, globalisation and international terrorism, transnational crime, juvenile crime, political sociology etc.

The Centre for Genocide Studies (CGS) is excited to have security specialist Air Commodore (Retd.) Ishfaq Elahi Choudhury, as one of the panel discussants in the upcoming seminar on "Genocide and Justice: Bangladesh's response to the Rohingya crisis”.
A renowned author, Mr. Choudhury has written profusely on security issues and enlightens talk show discussions regularly with his insights. Since
retirement, he has also played a number of important roles and contributed to the enhancement of reputed private universities.

The Centre for Genocide Studies is honored to have Mofidul Hoque, Founder Trustee of the Liberation War Museum as our Keynote speaker for the upcoming seminar on 'Genocide and Justice: Bangladesh's Response to the Rohingya Crisis'. Awarded with the Ekushey Padak in 2016 and the Bangla Academy Literary Award in 2013 by the Government of Bangladesh, Mr. Hoque is also a renowned cultural activist, researcher, publisher and essayist. We look forward to his insights on the ongoing Rohingya crisis to be shared on 26th of August!

It is a great privilege for the Centre for Genocide Studies (CGS) to have Dr. M Sanjeeb Hossain, Director of Research at the Centre for Peace and Justice (CPJ), Brac University as one of the discussants of the upcoming seminar on "Genocide and Justice: Bangladesh's response to Rohingya crisis". Over the past decade, Dr. Hossain's research has revolved around themes within International Refugee Law, International Criminal Law, Legal History and Politics, with a special focus on Bangladesh.

The Centre for Genocide Studies (CGS) is honoured to have Mr. Johannes Van der Klaauw, the representative of UNHCR in Bangladesh as one of the discussants for the upcoming seminar on 'Genocide and Justice: Bangladesh's response to Rohingya crisis.
Mr. Klaauw leads UNHCR's response to more than 870,000 forcibly displaced Myanmar nationals hosted in Bangladesh and is also co-chair of the strategic executive group established by the United Nations to coordinate the humanitarian response to the Rohingya.

The Centre for Genocide Studies (CGS) is privileged to have migration and displacement specialist, Asif Munier, as one of the panel discussants of the upcoming seminar on "Genocide and Justice: Bangladesh's Response to the Rohingya Crisis". Mr. Munier’s expertise in the development sector is 26 years old, with substantial projects involving national-international NGOs and UN agencies in Bangladesh. He is also a media commentator on issues related to labor migration, Rohingya refugees and secularism. We look forward to his insights on the ongoing Rohingya crisis on the 26th of August, 10.00 am.
