The Office of the Proctor of BRAC University organized a ceremony on the campus in Dhaka recently to award certificates to students in recognition of their active engagement in campus safeguarding awareness initiatives.
The initiatives, themed “Building an Inclusive and Safe Community for All” and “Safeguarding is Everyone’s Responsibility”, had drawn over 450 students each to take part in role-play activities and Kahoot! interactive quizzes.
These activities were designed to enhance students’ understanding of personal safety, mutual respect, appropriate conduct, and the university’s safeguarding policies and procedures.
During this time, the Office of the Proctor also reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining a campus free from all forms of academic and non-academic misconduct, upholding its core messages “Unity Begins with You” and “Safeguarding is Everyone’s Responsibility”.
These form a part of the Office of the Proctor’s long-term strategic and operational plans to strengthen institutional awareness and ensure a secure and inclusive learning environment for all members of the BRAC University community.
A total of 107 students received certificates at the ceremony on 27 October 2025, which was attended by Proctor Assistant Professor Rubana Ahmed, Deputy Proctor Farhan Haq, and assistant and junior proctors Md Khalid Amirul Islam, Advocate Sabrina Jahan, Mehjabin Hossain, MS Adnan Fahim, and Farzana Faiza.
Through these campus safeguarding awareness initiatives, BRAC University advanced Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 4 (Quality Education), 5 (Gender Equality), 10 (Reduced Inequalities), and 16 (Peace, Justice & Strong Institutions) by promoting student safety, inclusivity, responsible conduct, and a secure learning environment.

On June 27, 2024, BRAC University Proctor's Office, in collaboration with the Savar Residential Campus authority, organized and conducted three sessions on "Campus Safeguarding" to raise awareness among students and staff, with over 1400 students, faculty, and staff members in attendance. The Office of the Proctor has been implementing robust and comprehensive safeguarding policies and processes as part of its broader Campus Safeguarding Awareness Campaign to ensure a safe environment for all members of the BRAC University community.
The awareness sessions were conducted by Advocate Farhan Haq, Deputy Proctor and Safeguarding Lead, BRAC University, and the team at the Office of the Proctor including Junior Proctors and Officers- Md. Khalid Amirul Islam, Advocate Sabrina Jahan, Mehjabin Hossain, Farzana Faiza and University Proctor Dr. Rubana Ahmed in collaboration with Mir Sadik Faisal, Campus Superintendent, Savar Residential Campus along with other staff members of BRAC University. The Experiential Learning Coordinator of Savar Residential Campus, BRAC University, Ms. Mitali moderated the sessions and ensured necessary support during the sessions.
Throughout the sessions, the organizers attempted to strengthen commitments to raising awareness and promoting a safe and inclusive environment for all members of the BRAC University community. The sessions focused on introducing the concept of safeguarding and campus safeguarding, as well as discussing various academic and non-academic infractions, their consequences, the responsible use of social media, and information regarding the channels for raising any concern. The discussions covered BRAC University's disciplinary policies, procedures, and support protocols, emphasizing that personal and institutional safeguarding is a shared responsibility.
First of its kind in Bangladesh, BRAC University’s Office of the Proctor has developed and is currently implementing an internal "Campus Safeguarding Framework'' with comprehensive safeguarding protocols in place. A dedicated team, comprising of Junior Proctors and officers, is actively working to enforce policies and procedures in collaboration with and support from different departments, schools, and university operations team members, to create an improved learning environment for all members of BRACU community. The Goal is to foster a safe, inclusive, and supportive atmosphere for both students and staff. The primary objective of the Proctor's Office is to design and implement efficient campus security processes and protocols, allowing students and staff to voice their concerns and obtain the necessary resources to ensure their safety.
